Timeline of the UMR (neilsmith749's greatest creation)

Scottbe8

UMR Pax Sessionz
Below is a timeline of the routes by neilsmith749, which were eventually incorporated into the Ultra Mega Route (UMR) - the longest continuous route on the DLS.

Ogden and Oakwood Railroad (O&O RR), <kuid:95512:100543> July 2005
Gladston and Halden Railroad (G&H RR), <kuid:95512:100003> July 2005
GHOO Megaroute Final Edition (merger between O&O and G&H), <kuid:95512:101485> April 2006
Gilby and Wallace (G&W), <kuid:95512:101821> August 2006
Indiana Western (gfisher), <kuid:106916:1084> May 2007
UMR (merger between G&W and GHOO), <kuid:95512:102712> September 2007
Desert Mountain Plains (DMP), <kuid:95512:1030> July 2009
UMR2010 (merger between UMR and DMP), <kuid:95512:1095> July 2010
INDIANA WESTERN-2010 (neilsmith's upgrade of gfisher's 2007 route), <kuid:95512:100011> December 2010
UMR2010-MEGAMERGE-SUMMER (merger between IW and UMR2010), <kuid2:95512:1095:2> April 2011
SMITHVILLE CLASSIFICATION FACILITY (the hump yard), <kuid:95512:100030> April 2011
UMR2011-MEGAMERGE-SUMMER (merger between previous route and Smithville), <kuid2:95512:1095:3> May 2011
UMR-TS12-SUMMER (upgraded to TS12 standards), <kuid:95512:100024> September 2011
UMR-2013-SUMMER-MULTIPLAYER (several changes to layout for enhanced multiplayer), <kuid:95512:100096> April 2012

And that brings us to the present day. Note that intermediate routes, including season-change updates, were excluded. The KUIDs reported are the lowest available on the DLS; updates have been released for most of the routes.

I could not find the original Desert Mountain Plains by ESO on the DLS. If anyone knows when that was released, please share that information

DMP by ESO, check your cm. search author id=eso, it's not under routes but miscellaneous. Next to last.

It's a great route in single player, but the extreme size causes major latency issues in multiplayer. But as Neil has stated numerous times, it was never intended to be used for MP.

Whats is the lenght of the route in KM's or Miles as I would have through that the south lines routes - would be up there as well

Thats an extremely interesting and informative Post Scott. End to end would be Gladston Town to Smithville or Gunnerson to Smithville traditonally. I don,t know the exact distance but it,s around 250 miles or over 3hours at line speed non stop. Since the first TS12 multiplayer version a couple of shortcuts have been built which I have not allowed for in my figures.

Wow - my trainz life in a single post! Cool!

The total distance of the three mainlines (Gladston Port to GHOO Jct, IW Jct to Smithville, and Blainseville Jct to Millbury) and the six small spurs works out to about 370 miles, added together.

Also - the latest version (UMR-2013-Summer) is done, and being tested by myself. There are some great sessions being created by David Akridge, which we're working on and testing presently. It's a more detailed version of the multiplayer version listed above. Hopefully it'll be released over the next month or two.

Thanks for the interest, and I hope you all enjoy it.

Out of curiosity, are there any differences in the trackwork between the Multiplayer and Non-Multiplayer versions of the 2013 route? I'd like to transfer my current session (Neil Smith Express, named after yours truly) to the more detailed route without encountering too many problems.

While we are publishing the unofficial Neil Smith biography, I'll volunteer that I once asked him to join TrainzProRoutes as a route builder, and he declined, stating that he "doesn't play well with others". He's done well, and I've always enjoyed his routes.

NO. Each Route is seperate, likewise a session will only go with one route If you want multiplayer then you will need the 2013 multiplayer version

There are a few trackwork changes. I'm not entirely sure what changes I made after releasing the MP route, but the most notable ones would be re-doing the Gladston Port area, and a stretch between the Mid-grade siding and Eccles station, in the mountain-y section. The twisty tunnel part was reduced from two tracks to one track, as I couldn't find any double tunnels that were suitable.

Alright. When the new route is released, I'll test my session on it (clone, change map KUID pointer). Chances are, I'll need to replace some consists and add some more triggers and "control track at tm" commands.
