Time for 2010

After many crashes maybe its time for TRS2006 to be consigned to history. And go with 2010. Can i still use my 2006 content with 2010 seeing that I mainly do European Trains. And will my computer run 2010. at the moment have Gigabyte EP41-UD3L motherboard, intel core2duo cpu E7500@2.93ghz
2GB of ram and Nvidia ge force gt240 .Running on XP Home. This has been perfect for 2006 no lag no matter how complex it gets. Just trainz keeps crashing when i get to a certain level (DeepSigh) Any thoughts on this as i am buggered on what to do next (see post on launcher crash if you need more info)
Cheers.

Hi Sean,

You'll find that TS2010 will give a smoother response than 2006 - 2010 can use your dual core processor (2006 couldn't) - and it shares the graphics load to the GPU as well (check the power supply and cooling!).

There are two was to run 2010 (and 2009) - "native" & "Compatibility"
Native is faster, but some of the older content doesn't meet the 2010 native standard, so it won't display (trees can be bad - with obvious halos).
Compatibility will allow old assets to be used - regardless - and that's back to 2004.

The only caveat for 2010 is the "speedtrees" - some love them - some hate them.
I like the models, but if there are too many of them, they tak a lot of processing power so you end up with lag...

HTH
