Timber Ridge Line, 30 miles of fun

Not sure what car you are talking about

I never added a 4 wheel flatcar, and the static versions of cars are nothing special, they are just normal cars, and the only different, is that I removed the attachment points of smoke and steam, and set the engine config file to that of a freight car

Look for these KUID's in the layot

From TRS2006 CMP

Faulty Gondola #509 scenery <KUID:63290:28015>

Thanks in advance

Well, now that I looked it up, must be some sort of a mistake

I never added either of those items to the route, at least I do not remember adding them.

I would just ignore them

Anyway, with all the talk of my next expansion, a large 30in gauge section, I realized that the Rio Grade lacked 30in Motive power. Of course, seeing that this is a freelanced route, I added my own.

Thankfully there was a big gap in the D&RGW's 3 digit numbering, lots of empty numbers to use

So the 380 Class was born!!

The 5 locomotives of the class, 380, 381, 382, 383, and 384, were built by SubPar Locomotive Works in the 1920's, and were one of several classes of 30in gauge locomotives operated by the Rio Grande

30 inch section

Yes Ben makes great locos including the 2-8-2's , they are they all coal fired ones, you could add a sub class as some might have been wood powered orginally and converted to oil later?

Just another idear.

Tom

I never said I was done, I plan on having about 15-20 miles of 30in gauge track to run on, so 5 locomotives will not really cut it

I like the Oil Burner Idea, maybe the next few will have oil tenders, I am also hoping to round up some small 30in diesels (East Coast Trainz model when its available) so that I have 3 or 4 diesels to help carry the load as well.

Right now I am still planning, the first 5 were the easiest thing to come up with, so I will have to decide what to do with the rest of the fleet

rather then double posting....

385 and 386 are oil burners, they are also inside frame verse the other 5, which were outside frame (since I cannot remove the spark arrester from the outside frame....)

and sport different builders numbers

will hopefully be doing a 390 class, but I do not know of any other good 30 inch steam engines to use, but I am searching around

Hi there

Locos of the 390 class could be a wierd and wounderfull collection of smaller shunters and industrial locos ? Ben has a few and there's my 30ng dummy as well.

Tom

im still working on the 36/30in dual gauge track so when im done with that, you will be the first to try it, ill just email it to you :)

That could be arranged.

For accuracy, you should jump 6 numbers. It doesn't really matter, though (who reads the builder plates, anyway? ;) )

I can't really help with the 390 (until I make a Rio Turbio 2-10-2). I might be able to help with a 180 in the not too distant future.

I am also hoping to round up some small 30in diesels (East Coast Trainz model when its available) so that I have 3 or 4 diesels to help carry the load as well.
I may be able to help with that one, too.

Cheers,
Ben

Hmm, you have perked my interest Ben.

6 numbers, oh well, unless every locomotive is lined up in order, you wont noticed my numbering....uh, mistake

And actually for an outside frame oil burner, just take the spark arrester off the outside frame model. It has the correct headlight for the Rio Grande

as far as diesels go, I know East Coast Trainz has a finished 30 inch diesel (I think) but it does not seem to be released at this point. I may have arrived to late for that

and eventually I will get to an 04 version, been very busy with work and school, not much free time during the week

Been busy working on the SS City of Milwaukee for both Trainz and Virtual Sailor, but I have put some work in on Timber Ridge. The 36" and 30" lines will meet at Ashippun, Colorado, the 36" line just goes straight through with 2 sidings, one is a station track, the other is a freight transfer dock, which will have a dock to load and unload boxcars, and a derrick crane to deal with flatcars.

I have the facilities built for 30", there will be no services for 36" gauge since there is everything you need 3 miles back in Prower. I have also made a 30" version of the Chama roundhouse (3 stall version) for use with the 30" gauge trains

Only picture I have right now

D&RGW 383 and 473 meet in Ashippun to exchange passengers

Another small update, and a few pictures to go with it. finally after trying for two weeks to sit down and test the expansion in depth in cab mode, I was able to make a few needed changes. The grade out of Timber ridge, from the timber ridge side is pretty easy to climb. I was able to take the K-28 with 10 unloaded class 6 stock cars plus a caboose up the 1.5-3.5% grade. since the grade is not constant, she gets more then enough traction going up.

The other side however, is a very different story. It is between 3.4-3.8% for the whole length, which is about 2/3 of a mile. Short, but steep, I was unable to get the K-28 up with 150 tons behind her, so I added some infrastructure in La Forge for helper locomotives (small water tower and a coal shed), and there is now a siding on the Timber ridge side to switch the helper if needed, or you can take it the whole 5 miles to timber ridge, whatever is more fun.

I am just about ready for a beta release, if anyone is interested, please PM me

is this route still up for download?

Yes, its on the DLS for TRS2006, and if you look back in the thread a little, there is a link to my mediafire account that has some Non-DLS content I created, as well as the full route and session

IF anyone knows how to modify this route for TRS2004, Please content me. Same goes for TC, and TRS2009, I only have TC, so when I can work with TC when I have time, but I do not have 2009, so if anyone wants to help there, once again, contact me

Are you going to reless these?

I will release (if I can get permission of course) all my D&RGW 30" reskins when the route is finished, unless there is a huge demand for them ahead of time

Yes Please !

The CCLRR was based on the colorado rockies and I think they would look good ruuning on my line.
