Hi All
Subsequent to my last post (thanks again for the advice) I went ahead and bought "2010EE" and have today installed it.
Normally I would look to update a game before I even bothered trying it, but I was chomping at the bit to see this and so I had a quick look at it straight out of the box. It looks fantastic! I never had a machine which would do a program like Trainz proper justice before (I've had the original, 2004 & 2006 before this one.) and this time I just whacked the resolution up to max and went for it. I played the first tutorial and..... what can I tell you, it just looks amazing. I can't wait!
I do need to ask you about the patching though, because clearly before I play properly I need to do my Trainz housework.
The auto patcher is not playing ball, only getting so far before it says it has aborted, so it looks as though I'll have to do it manually. I found what I think is the right page, which has service packs (which are the patches right?) and from my version number (42203) I "think" I am on service pack 1 and need to be on service pack four?
So my questions are;
1/ Am I right about that?
2/ Do I need to apply the service packs sequentially or can I just apply SP4?
3/ I saw something on the page about allowing the patch to run all night??? What???? I must be reading the wrong thing right? The actual game install was only 10-15 mins or something like that! Had the auto patcher worked there was certainly no indication that it was going to take more than the standard few mins that most game patches do and putting aside the fact that I'm not keen to set about something that huge, I'm certainly not happy about the idea of leaving the PC on all night. (Nah.. it's wrong for sure. I'm reading it wrong.)
All the best
