The Trainz Newsletter

Maybe it's just me but the newsletter is no longer a newsletter and just a comercial platform, there is now hardly any NEWS and just advert after advert selling other Auran products, which is a shame as it used to be quite informative and was worth a read.

Now all it gets is a very quick look over to find the NEWS and then trashed.

Anyway why not bring back the newsletter and have the comercials put into a sales letter which I could opt out of.

Thanks Rant Over

Well they do have 5 cents off something or other including FCT and the developer interviews aren't too bad even if they are a little heavy in how wonderful N3V and their products are.

Cheerio John

I agree with HornbyOO.
The Trainz newsletter is basically all advertisements and an interview with someone.

What else would you look for in a newsletter created by a corporation? That's essentially the definition of corporate communications.

Now if someone started an independant blog about Trainz and it turned into advertisements, then I can understand being upset. But the company is only in business to make sales, not to publish news.

;) Nothing new in the sun.... coming from Mars. :hehe: The official Newsleter is as expected, "as is".

C'mon, guys, serious old-timers and usual forum readers,

Who's really interested in the official Newsletter?;)

...and an interview with someone.
;)... even if the interview is with good old Rob Shaw of good old Auran's fame!

The real pity is that John King (johnK)'s health got worse and the really useful informative TCN is in a stand-by situation.

Ian Woodmore, me and the rest of the TCN team respectfully and hopefully are waiting for John's recovery. First things first.

That's a real Newsletter, of course except for the pages I took care of. :hehe:

Making a periodical newsletter requires a specialist (like John) and a lot of time devoted and committed to make it well, impressive and interesting. And also needing specialists in communicating things to outer Space.

Yes, Alberte is right. JohnK's Trainz Resources Newsletter does contain much useful stuff without trying to sell us anything.

It's been a few weeks since I spoke to John.. It's time I contacted him again.
As far as I know he is still recuperating from his bypass surgery..

Agreed. I was just getting started in Trainz when TCN went on hiatus, and at the time, a good deal of the stuff was over my head. Now that I have been at it for a while, I find myself going back to the older issues, "Oh, now I see......." :)

Best wishes to John for a speedy recovery- I look forward to seeing more of this great newsletter.

As for Auran's newsletter, it is exactly what you would expect the company rag to be. No surprises there.
