Strangely enough they are both under $50k each..Oh how I wish I had the money. :p

Edit: To attach a question on there..Does anyone know what the first train was or looked like before that? All I know is that ALCO made it but there is no information on it.

I see..I wonder what it looked like before it rusted up. If I could model anything I'd probably make the ALCO S for Trainz 04.

For those who don't know, these two engines are US Army Transportation Corps S155 0-6-0s. They are essentially USRA 0-6-0 copies, with a few things adjusted. The most notable adjustment is the off centered smokebox door, to clear the air pump.http://www.alaskarails.org/pix/former-loco/UK-313.html

I don't find the USATC locomotives to be very good looking engines, except for the S118 (hasn't stopped me from making a stock S160). Modifications to the S160 and S100 can make them look pretty good (the S160 especially), but I don't think much could be done to help the S155.
The price is nice, but the real question is: how good are the boilers? I can tell 4023 had some major firebox work started, then aborted. I figure it was probably discovered that it would cost too much to fix. The other engine doesn't have anything obviously wrong, though.

This shows what these engines looked like when built, for those who were wondering.

Cheers,
Ben

I know the 1st loco is New Hope and Ivyland #9. (The New Hope and Ivyland, or NH&I, is a tourist railroad in eastern Pennsylvania) It pulled tourist trains there in the 60's and 70's. The second loco, I'm not sure about.... :o

Reminds me of the song from Barenaked Ladies..."If I had a Million Dollars"

Except besides my girl, I would love to own a few working steam locomotives...

Also, I doubt that "running" engines actually runs, I could be wrong, but it looks like it would need an overhaul to get going again, if not some major rebuilding.

Thankfully it looks complete, which is far more then you can say for the other one, which is missing many parts. It would be good for cosmetic restoration, and spare parts
