The Plymouth, Bristol & Sandy Point Screenshots

Here are some pictures of the greater Plymouth and Bristol areas of my extensive, and never completed, fictional New England based regional railroad.

Running from Sandy Point to Bristol, the new passenger service handles a substantial number of passengers. This was quite amazing considering the huge number of nay-sayers and NIMBYs that came out to fight the reopening of the service.

More pictures in the Bristol area. Here the passenger train from Sandy Point meets its counter-part from Plymouth. They are meeting at North Bristol, which seems to be the favored spot. The line is double-tracked here for quite a distance south and for a short distance to the Sandy Point branch. Once past the station, we head into North Brewer and the industrial park branch. The track speed along this stretch is quite high once past the industrial branches. The train will fly along here until it reaches Orrington and the branch for the old power plant, then from there it's up to full speed ahead to Plymouth. No other towns between North Bristol and Plymouth have signed on for the passenger service yet.

Here we are racing along to Orrington and then eventually to Plymouth. There are fewer bridges along this side of the river and inlet. There are a couple of slow stretches due to sharp curves along this route, however, that add to the running time.

Here are some other pictures including some switching operations on the SBIR, and views around Sandy Point and Bristol. Bristol is quite a large city, and covers quite a large area. Between the industry and freight services along with the university here, the city has grown substantially over the years. The outlying areas are still quite rural, and serve as a nice respite from the crowded city. The SBIR is showing off it's newly acquired former Conrail GP-9s that it had acquired from the Housatonic Railroad.

This is close to BAR property am I right? It looks pretty good.

That's right, Jadebullet.

North Maine Junction connects the former MEC with the former BAR. I've done a little bit of artistic licensing by adding in a non-existent line to the Winterport area (Sandy Point) as well as rebuilding the airport spur, which is missing the airport and becomes a woodlands with an industrial park.

Thank you for the compliments on my route building. I'm still tweaking and finding different things as I run this section of the route. These are the little things like trees too close to the track, a floating building, missing texture, etc. The little snotty things that take forever to find, but a few seconds to fix.

I've been seriously thinking about deleting the old route sections and using this as the basis for a new Enfield and Eastern. There's a lot of work involved in deleting as well as building, so I've been putting off the project for now.
