The Beginning of the End?

Hi Ed And Everybody
I like the cut of your jib Bill, with the whole world screaming for their "rights" and entitlements (like a nest full of Robins waiting for mom to fill their beaks) it's refreshing to know someone who understands the system.:)

Thanks for that Ed, but don't forget I was on the March with hundreds of thousands of others in London last weekend and at 67 it has taken me a week to get over it.

However, I was up their in support of the " private" road haulage industry which is having a terrible time in Britain at the moment with a number of my former work colleagues now unemployed.

Apologies to everyone for being off-topic just thought I would point out to Ed.

Using 2012 at the moment. It's the best version yet. Ultra smooth and stable.

Trainz is not a rail simulator, it's a modelling simulator that focuses on trains. It's a lot deeper than something like failworks.

Multiplayer will offer some new added depth. You can never have enough space to model a large real model railway at home, but Trainz makes that possible.

Yup. I agree. TS12 really is the best of the breed so far.

I can say that I have more fun with this program than anything else I've used on a computer. I can't count the number of hours I spend in Surveyor poking around, trying new things, experimenting with methods, and still learning as I go a long!

Well the problem is no one wants to have real conversations:hehe:

You can't believe how many times I've been called rich because I bought a $999 Dell two years ago and put a few dollars in it upgrading some of its components over the last two years. They call me Uber rich when they see that I have a first-class ticket and have spent $30 for TransDem.

I really get shocked and surprised sometimes because on my fixed income I budget a few dollars here and there for my hobby (Trainz) and just get disparaged for it by quite a few in the community. I just can't get my head around people refusing to move forward to the point of disparaging not only Auran/N3V but some of its loyal customers simply because technology is moving forward.

Im one of those newbies (as far as trainz is concerned anyway). But I know how you feel about your comments above. I to am on a very limited budget (Im a ful time carer for my disabled wife. So for me having a form of release - a hobby if you will is essential to me. I recently upgraded my pc. My old one I bought maybe 10 years ago just before I became a carer for my wife. It was a pre-built one that cost an absolute fortune at the time. It was only really a mid range thing and being pre-built I bet I paid more for the brand name than the actual contents. It served ok for many years as most of what I did was well with in its capability.
Then I found the world of 3d. 3d max to be precise (in the form of a demo copy). Now Im pretty useless at it (I dont spend anywhere near enough time on it). Then my daughter discovered she could get a fully licensed copy through the student licensing scheme. Having got that for me, I realized that I had to upgrade. Budget being what it is, I knew I would not be upgrading again for a while so I had to plan for what I wanted.

Then I discovered trainz. Well the specs for the new pc took on a whole new importance. I finally had a reason to really learn what I could do with 3d max and what I could do with the end results. Only I cant. You see (yes its a little moan), unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view). The version of 3d max I have is too new to be able to work with trainz.

Still it was the best grand I have spent on a pc for a long time. And although the version of trainz I have is not the current release - I know with what I have it can play probably the next 2 or 3 releases of trainz without worry. But I think I have other priorities first - like getting transdem :)
But like you I've had folk ask why I spent so much on it. Answer. Simple - it keeps me sane :)
