Tenderizer needed

Midland

Sphenodon Punctatus
I am building a session using the Big Boy. To make it more interesting I would like to reduce the amount of water carried. Because the Big Boy is a built-in asset in 04 I can't access the config.txt file to tweak the water values. If I use a 3rd party tender I can tweak the config.txt to whatever water value I like. The trouble is I cannot find a tender that doesn't look stoopit behind the Big Boy!

Does anyone know of any 3rd party Big Boy type tenders OR how I might be able to tweak the built in one?

Hello,

What you can do is use TO to obtain a list of depencencies then create a new config.txt with your own KUID and simply alias the tender mesh.

Have Fun

TrainzItalia at one time had 2 Challengers as freeware on their web site's download page which they do not have anymore except as payware I think. Their tenders might suit you. Beware, the animation on the locomotive's valve gear and rods is a bit wobbly but the tender is alright. I guess the Challengers might have bin beta versions.

Send me an email and I can pass these 2 cdps on to you.

Thanks for the offer Vinny but I already have the two ex-freeware Challengers. The session will end up on the DLS so I'm kinda stuck if I use those tenders. I have messaged Rob (Big Boy creator) to ask if I can alias the tender.

The only other option is to go with a different loco altogether. :(

Of the DLS available tenders the NYC Mohawk unlettered doesn't look totally loopy on the Big Boy and I may well end up having to use that. ;)

The problem with the Big Boy as it is is that it could go fifteen times around the entire Port Ogden & Northern before it needs watering!:o :hehe:

Thanks for all your comments.

I just ran a trial version of what I'm planning and with 4,000 tons of shale the Big Boy could run from Newnes to Chippewa Falls and return four times before water becomes an issue!

I have a fairly simple choice here:

Run the session with the Big Boy as is (a total yawn if you ask me).

Run the session with the Challenger or the Challenger tender on the Big Boy (where I can change the tender water value) so that only those lucky enough to have this loco can run the session.

Run the session with a different loco altogether, though the number of American steamers on the DLS that could pull 4,000 tons is very small.

It's a shame about the Big Boy coz this is just the sort of job it was designed for.

If anyone has a tender that would fit behind the Big Boy...

Hey, the number of American steamers on the DLS altogether is very small!

How about reskinning and using the SP Daylight tender? Intended for the GS-4 4-8-4's they ran, they appear at first glance to be similar in capacity to the tender the Big Boys ran with.

Just copy one of the textures from the Big Boy and letter the sides. I haven't looked at it yet, but I did think about reskinning that tender for use behind other locomotives.

Once we get some.
