Telstra hoax phonecalls

3Ds MAX will be my demise
G'day!

Dunno if this is the right place to post this, but I felt I had to tell someone about it.

Have any of you ever recieved a call from supposedly Telstra lately? The message is machine like. It appears to say when you pick up the phone, 'Hello. This is a message for (so and so) please confirm your birthday is etc, your name, etc, etc. Has anyone heard anything like this before? Because so far, I've recieved three calls from this robot thingy. I recently called Telstra and told them about it. They said they've never heard of it. So just to clarify this, be aware. It sounds like an identity theft scam.

Cheers! :)

Jake.

Nope, but I have gotten a few of the Indian scam calls pretending to be some computer tech company wanting access to my computer. Usually when I get those sorts of calls I just lie and say I don't have a computer and hang up.

It sounds to me like some kind of autodialler -you were wise hanging up Jake. Besides informing Telstra, you should also contact your state Consumer Affairs agency about it, as they're trying to clamp down on these scam artists.

We had the computer calls a fair bit, it was funny i told them i actually worked in IT and i knew there was nothing wrong with the computer. Funny the reply was you work in IT ... beep beep beep Never heard from them again!

Cheers

Phone scams

Had quite a few of those calls my self from supposed it tech companies saying they were from Microsoft. I just love to lead them along, provides me good humor. After awhile supposedly following their instructions, I tell who ever that I have this funny looking penguin in a tux on my screen and it's saying hi from Tux, next sec....beep, beep, beep.

Haven't had any for a few weeks now, must have black listed me.......ohhhh poor meeeee  :'(
