Take a look at this little lokey...

Think I have read an artical on that loco it was build by a fellow to run on his live steam railway on hs property, it is more of a live steam model than a real locomotive.

Still an amazing beast

No, it isn't a homebuilt. It is a genuine Lima shay. SN-3118, one of 6 class A 10-2s built in the 1920s for construction companies. This one was built for Good Roads Construction Company, and I believe it was used in a quarry. (don't quote me on that, though) The weirdest thing (to me, at least) about the design is the single cast block for the cylinders. The size of the boiler is also a bit weird. It is only 18.5" in diameter at the smokebox. I wonder what sort of tractive effort that thing has?

Cheers,
Ben

Bearcat245, I don't think the little lokey would be on the shay survivor list if she was home built... :D I can see why you thaught that thought... It seems rather interesting though that she survived the scrapper, she was proably too small to be of very much scrap value, or maybe they had a very good group of railfans in the area, it would be so much cheaper (and easier) to restore and insure than a larger lokey would!:D
