T:ANE not allowing me to edit properties of locomotives

So I've been reinstalling content on my Trainz: A New Era after reinstalling the entire program, and editing a few locomotive specs to enhance accurate-to-prototype gameplay (ex. fitting an E2 0-6-0 with a more accurate config file instead of an Austerity 0-6-0, etc.).

Whilst doing so, Trainz had crashed a few times but working just fine up till now, it won't let me edit the properties of locomotives or rolling stock in Quick Drive mod to change numbers, faces or anything, and occasionally when I try to edit properties whilst driving a train, an error pops up saying the following:

Error: The target of this Properties dialog has been deleted. This dialog will now close.

Is there anyway to fix this without reinstalling Trainz again?

What version are you running.

Ensure you are updated to SP1 HF4, which is the latest.

The earlier versions were notorious for crashing even if you looked that them the wrong way.

I have the Steam version, which should update to the latest build or update whenever it comes out. I believe it already has SP1 already installed on it.

If you are running the most recent version, run a database repair from the Developer menu at the top of the Launcher or a Content Manager window.

Once that is completed, check the Open for Edit for any open assets and submit them. In the case of built-in or payware, revert to original.

After any open assets are submitted/reverted, if there are any, check for faulty assets.

Highlight groups of them, if there are a lot, and view errors and warnings. A good number of them should disappear. If there are any left over, you need to repair.

As far as Steam versions, I don't know the actual build numbers.

In the event that none of this resolves your problem, contact the helpdesk via the link at the top of the forum.

I have tried what you said, and again once more, with unfortanately no results. The properties tab still refuses to work.
