Switching out trucks.

Hello!!! to everyone in the trainz community. my question is ; how does one go about switching out the trucks from one locomotive to another. to get the unit to show up it " trs 06 " ; and are their any info. pack out there ; that explain this mechanical fix on a unit. Thank'x i gladly accept any feedback.

Change the bogey kuid in the config file. I had download a couple of SD40s that the bogeys wouldn't show, so I change the config to use the bogeys from the in game SD40s, it worked great.

Hey!!! Mouse84 ; When i open up my cmp , and high lite the bad trucks ; scroll down to view confg. file and try replacing old kuid with the new it dosen't work . it will not even let me back space out the old bad kuid. what am i doing wrong.

You can't work in 'View Config'. Select 'Edit' - 'Edit in Explorer' and make your config changes there, confirm the changes, then back to the main screen, make sure that the item is still selected and press Alt+M.

Sorry to correct, but you mean CRTL + M, don't you?:)

If you're using Trainz 2006, you can use Content Creator Plus which minimizes the chances for error. Just right click the engine which you want to swap trucks on in Content MANAGER Plus and select "Edit in CCP."

DUH! I must have had a seniors moment. Of course it is CTRL+M Thanks for correcting my lapse.

About the post that suggests working in CCP. I suggest you use 'Edit in Explorer', once you use CCP I think that the content version is updated to 2.9 and CM2 will apply a much stricter checking regime.

Cheers

I prefer to think of it as a differently layouted keyboard moment. (patent pending):hehe:

Editing files in Windows Explorer is a lot easier for most parts of content creation/editing.

By switching KUIDS around you can change cabs, horn sounds, engine specs, and trucks. It is a lot easier than waiting for CCP to check everything and correcting any errors.
