I have somewhat asked this question sometime ago and i don't remember what the answer was so i will ask again (Please forgive a old man memory lost at my age). I am looking to build a route that i saw in a book that has a 4x8 base and a 18x72 staging extension but i am not sure how to get the surveyor to show that the base that is there is 4x8 and how to get it to show my 18x72 extension.Is there some way that i could get the measurment's that i need or what would i do to get them and i know this sounds crazy but i am not very good with this stuff and if i see it then i understand it better,as i said please forgive a old man with bad memory.

No problem, there's many of us with bad memories here!
The way I see it, you would have to start with a blank baseboard and use the ruler tool to measure out the area you need. I'm sure you can approximate the main section, but the extension may have to be built on part of a baseboard, as you can't size the baseboards to meet your needs.

I saw that ruler in there but i am not sure how to use that is there a section in there somewhere that would tell me how to use it or where could i go to find that out.

Many of us in the Forums have 'senior moments'. I get 'em all the time, but forget when I have them most of the time

Rulers should be in the 'Tools' rollout in Surveyor. Chose the tool and left click on the base board in surveyor. Drag the mouse to make the measurement.

Rulers can be set in Edit Route, to Imperial or Metric.

Trainz heights are always in metric

Gradients are in %

Cascade - Thank you for verifying my suspicion about the heights - there is a big difference in 25 feet and 25 meters for bridge clearances! :wave:
