Surveyor questions

Just two very quick questions from me,
1: How do you count the number of base boards used on a route?
and
2: Ive started using one type of track on my route, however i want to replace the entire route with a different track type, how can i do this without going through the entire route?

Thanks for any information.

Sam

Edit, im using TRS2006

I'm not sure how to count your base boards after you placed them. I think you had to count them as you added them. (You can look at the map version of your route I think)

For TRS'06 this app is a must have, VistaMare TrainzMap. It will replace all your track with one click.;) http://www.vistamaresoft.com/page.php?a=3&p=5

There was a utility somebody wrote that could do it for TRS2004. I don't think he updated it for 2006. Maybe someone else can remember it I don't have a link for it. Other than that I don't think it's possible for the average user - except counting boards in surveyor - not always easy for a large layout. Trainz map uses a rectangular area encompassing the tack layout. It doesn't show any existing boards beyond that and shows all board positions within it whether they exist or not. It can change out the track for you however. It comes with SP1 for TRS2006 so you probably already have a copy.

I have my own utility programs I wrote to read the map files. If it's something you really need it can be done by reading the gnd file with a hex editor. For board count in TRS2006 check address starting at 04x and read as 4 byte integer (little endian of course).

If you bring the map up in surveyor, use the de,magnification button until you can see all of the route, then start counting. My route of the LEEDS to CARLISLE is 115 miles long and I did not have any difficulty counting the boards.

Thanks for the help guys.
It took me about an hour to get trainzmap to work properly, when i needed to do was install the latest version. It is almost a one click job to change the track, but its very very handy.
One thing i did notice was when you do change the tracks, it doesnt change the track thats linked onto a station, so i have to replace the stations one by one.

Cheers again

Sam
