Surveyor/Drive Issue

Having a few issues with my Surveyor/Driver procedure.
The issue in question has been present for some time, but is now becoming problematic.
Hoping there's someone who may have a solution to this driver fail.

To get into driver I apply the basic 'Quick-drive' method, after saving work in surveyor, then the
standard, 'Do you wish to save changes and start driver' - click save.
'Do you wish to overwrite existing session, or create a new session' - click default overwrite setting.

The new driver session will then open at a distant railhead, miles from where the train that had
just been saved is situated. Although 'driver' has been activated, the control throttle, and assigned driver icons
are not present. It is then a matter of getting in, and out, of driver via surveyor, this can take no less than three, or four, attempts
before the enigmatic control/driver icons eventually re-appear.

I had hoped that a 'Data Base Repair' may have been the answer to this quandary, but unfortunately not. However there was a glimmer
of hope today when first opening the map. The first two attempts at driver operation were actioned successfully at the point of save.
All attempts after that were a return to the distant railhead, less driver control icons. As you may understand a somewhat frustrating procedure,
any help/advise re this matter appreciated.

You have to allocate a driver in surveyor mode from the edit session window. Only the first time will Trainz allocate drivers after that you have to.

Unfortunately the game will also spit the dummy on 'first time' . . . . .
Checked Driver Setup which shows that drivers have been assigned to appropriate vehicle/engines.
Perhaps there is something that I should be doing that I'm not (!??).
