It is a mars light. It was the precursor to ditchlights.

They were emergency braking lights I think? If the train went into emergency, the red light would light up...maybe not...not sure...

yes in normal operation only the white one is lit. but in emergency situations the red one is lit.
about them being strange. neither locomotive is strange to me so i guess it makes question number 2 a bit harder to answer. if you are referring to locomotives with mars lights, they are few and far between in trainz. i have one in atsf colors at my site. it functions properly as mentioned above.

If you like that Mars light...get the Jointed Rail F7-A's...in the "Cab Mode" put the trainbrake handle into "Emergency Braking"...and go to "External View" or "Free Roam"...The mars light will be illuminated and rotating.
The enginesounds, dynamic braking, horn and bell sounds are super !

No, the 4 means that there are 4 different road numbers on the locos. Unlike the built in content, you can't change the road number. So, you can put unlimited locos of that type on the route, okay.4? Does that mean you can only put 4 locos on your route?
You don't get unlimited use of them like usual???

What really is the point of this thread? I've seen one pic, and it's of an engine with a mars light, maybe rare, or not so much (I really don't have a clue about it.) but other than that, there really isn't any pictures.
Light that spin. VERY INTERESTING. Might be real.Can anyone tell me about the strange light on the loco on the left?
All I know is that it spins around and has a red light and white light (obviously).
Does anyone else know of any other strange Union Pacific locos on Trainz, like the two above???
