Strange Trains

I have to say, that all of the steam locomotives that looked like that is completely nasty,I preffer better looking steam engines!

Like it says on the Holman horror, i don't belive the term locomotive is exactly right of these... things. I will put more on soon.

And a similar idea was used at the Guiness Brewery in Dublin to run their NG locos on the (Irish) standard gauge.

As for the Holman, a better description would be Financial Con Trick (do a search to find the story behind this racket)

Maybe there should be a model kind of like this.

Except maybe without the bottom wheels, or without the whole bottom section.

And about the tender engine, what a horrible thing to do with the tender.

I just posted the Triplexes and the people who built them knew the were complete failures then they got the idea for these...http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/quadruplex/quadrapl.htm

Silly americans and their obsession with bigger = better...

In 1927 Beyer Peacock & Co produced this design for a 2-6-6-2 + 2-6-6-2

ಠ_ಠ

Oh, fiddlesticks.

In fairness though, Beyer Peacock exported to some of the most demanding routes in the world...

Tractive force at 90% boiler pressure: 215,200 lbs

And that is a LOT of tractive effort

they were better off using small to large steam engines from mikados, berkshires and some hudsons,I don't know what they were thinking about when they tried to build a bigger and more powerful steam locomotive,I mean at some point there are design limits and to make matters worse,as fast as the fireman tried to create more steam from the coal he was shoveling to the big firebox,it uses alot of steam which is why they did not last long in service!
