Strange problem in Surveyor TS12

This anomaly happened after doing a texture replace. They are holes that go to infinity and are scattered over most of the map. I have tried to reapply the texture and saving several times. This map was started in TS2010 and imported into TS12. I have been working on it in TS12 for a couple of weeks now and the holes showed up yesterday after the texture replacement.

Any help on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Same here with 2010. It mostly occurs in one area for me on my custom map. I jokingly call it the "holey valley".

finally I am not the only one this started I think already in TS2009

First I thought it came from Transdem points and asked Roland a few times for advice........
I guess none of you use transdem fi yes that still could be the issue which I hope is not.
IF you not use that than we have to ask Windwalkr for kind advice or give it to the N3v lab for investigation.
Repairing is labour and have to be done careful not to scar the mountains to much.
Easy when close to the track just smooth track and done.

Roy;)

The map I'm having the issue with is a Transdem map. I still have TS2010 and can continue development of the route with that version. I am starting over for TS12 with a newly generated map and will see how that goes.

It is peculiar though....how the holes did not show until some editing was done. I imported the map again from TS2010 into TS12 and all is good, although I lost two weeks of editing now. I am afraid to start again with the re-imported one because the same thing may happen.

I have had this happen also.
I think it is caused when you are lowering the terrain and overshoot the edge of the base or any raised terrain and inadvertently hit a another lower part of your layout.
You never notice it until your working near the hole you made.

had this problem in TS09 after using a texture replace, had it happen more than once. after i used it there would be black spots where no texture showed up, but if i left and came back to the map it would have these holes.

Take a close look at the black spots then hit F9 to hide the textures.
On my system, they always occur at an intersection of the base lines.
And if you try the color picker in the exact center of the intersect lines, you get nothing.
I only get the spots when replacing textures with the replace assets tool.

As far as the holes, I don't believe textures are responsible.
Try this. Find a hole.
Then use the get height tool. Keep left clicking in the hole to get your deepest spot.
You will probably find it is no deeper than the lowest terrain on your layout.

It's not TransDem. I get the same thing in 10 (black spots which aren't recognised as textures and/or the 'hole to infinity') after using Replace Assets on ground textures in TS2010 SP3 on HOG maps...

I had this issue when bringing in my older route into TS2009. There were stripes of baseboard texture at every baseboard joint, and there were peaks and holes in other places.

These were areas where I had done a fill of texture color like for the bottom of the ocean for example.

I mentioned this to the Beta testers for TS2009, but apparently this was never fixed and has made its way into TS2010 and now TS12.

Maybe the N3V software developers could nail this little bug down once and for all.

The jagged peaks and hollows along baseboard joins on imported routes is an old issue with a known fix - create a new 1 board route and merge the imported route with it before opening the imported route.

I have also seen the black spots that are not ground textures as far back as 04, particularly in routes on which HOG textures have been deleted before release.

The 10m square 'holes' that appear after using Asset Swap on ground textures is (afaik) a new phenomenon which first appeared in TS2010 (butof course that was the first version with Asset Swap!)...

Layer Problem in tr12

I have imported a route from 2010 it seams like the layers are coming seperated. If I try to attach a track item I get a error stateing you can not attach track item in a layer not attached to the track. if I delete the track and replace it will be fine for a day. next time I get back to the area same error message. and ideas??

I have this problem too. Importing routes and sessions from TS210 to TS12 seems to jumble up the layers for some reason.

Re the black patches, try this, use the raise or lower terrain tool in wireframe mode and just click on the centre vertex, sometimes clears it here.
