In a U.S. Western setting, what would be your three main choices? (Industries would include, cattle, passenger, log and lumber, grain and gold.) Engine choice.
See the following sites for some good stuff, steam locomotives and rolling stock:
SG - Subpar Productions for the Goldspike set, San Juan Trainz Workz for D&RGW.
NG24 - TrainZone for SR&RL.
NG30 - Parrott Railroad Workshop for F&CC.
NG36 - Subpar and San Juan for all kinds of goodies.
For the moment I'm all stock, and there are more 1900's looking buildings. Im
trying to give it an 1890's look. Also my own choices for U.S. Steamers is
limited, but Im using the C41 as the main work horse, but I have the Big Boy
thrown in there as well. Big Boy seems to be a good one for the eight-flat
log hauls to the lumber mill.
Well, I decided to go with the early 1900's. The west hadnt changed alot
but commerce was finding the train could haul more cattle, grain and other
goods faster and farther than the wagon. Many of the old western towns
remained full of cowboys and horses.
It might be awhile before I purchase other addons,so I'll adjust the era with
what I originally have.
