Steam Locomotive Operation - CAB Mode

So I'm actually doing a session right as I speak and I'm having a difficult time getting one of my trains to move fast. I have a NKP 2-8-4 and it's going 23 mph. My cutoff is at 31% as I took it down from 75 then put the water and coal levels all the way up and my train is still moving slow. Is there something I can do to make it go faster without getting the AI involved?

Btw I did speak with Auran about merging my accounts and I'm waiting on a response.
 
There is not enough information provided for a possible solution to be given to you. Some things to consider are:-
1. What is the current boiler pressure in comparison to its maximum working pressure?
2. What percentage opening of the regulator?
3. What is the weight of the consist?
4. What is the gradient?

Also, as in real life, making major changes to coal and water levels does not have an immediate effect on a steam locomotive's road performance in Trainz.

The regulator if you mean throttle, was at 100 percent. The consist was 4,192 tons with a 2-8-4 pulling it. There was no grade just flat and level territory. The boiler pressure I didn't get so I'll have to go back and see for myself. But can you potentially give me ballpark ranges where it needs to be to get up to and past 60 mph. I had this problem on KL Trainz payware but on Lilb's GS-4 4-8-4s, I had no problem going up to and in excess of 100 mph. Steve on YouTube told me maybe the engine spec and script could've played a part in it. I don't know or remember so I'd have to go back but that's what I remember off the top of my head firsthand.

That is a LOT of weight behind a single locomotive. It's hard to say what weight would be about right, and what settings/pressures you need as each locomotive can be quite different to another. Different versions of Trainz work slightly differently as well, registering your version of Trainz in your account will help members to know which version you are using (and that you are using a legitimate version; until then some members may be hesitant in responding/assisting).

You'll probably want to increase your cut-off though. The lower your cut-off, the less steam you are admitting into the cylinders each stroke. When you want to work harder, you want more steam, so move the cut-off further out. Your regulator controls the flow of steam out of the boiler, whilst the cut-off controls the timing of the steam (and amount of steam) into the cylinders. Hence a combination of the two is needed to work a locomotive properly.
