Steam Loco sounds...

I've noticed that alot of my steam locomotives in trainz for mac have a strange thing happen to them when in driver mode. When I accelerate a steam locomotive, the sounds of the steam engine chugging play out, but when the dcc dial passed notch 4 or 5, the chugging sound goes away and the loco speeds up with no more chugging. Even the locos that came in the game do this...is there a way to fix this issue?

Here's a video of my problem,

the dcc controller is set to just before 1/4 turn, when the locomotive clears the bridge its notched up one notch, and the sound vanishes, when the first coach clears the bridge, the dcc controller is notched back a notch and the sound resumes. Anyone have a fix for this? All of my steam engines do this...all 100+ of them...

Have you ever had the chance to hear a steam Loco going down the mainline? Quite as a mouse. Its hard to believe but they honestly don’t make much noise once they get going.

stevelerro: It looks like too me that have a frame rate problem..What are your computer stats?? Are your drivers up to date??You have to remember that when you have that many engines it takes a lot computer energy..

hey stevelerro, what larryford wrote is correct. when a steam loco is at top speed, it knida just rolls. think of when you drive down the highway. once you hit 70, your just cruising at 1800 or so rpm. so as you are on the highway, the steam loco is kinda criusing at close to idle rpm, yet doing 60-70.

i know what you mean tough, you would think a massive machine like that would make crazy noise

if we are talking about steam sound problems
when i go in reverse the sounds are mucked up
any idea how to fix?

First of all, the frame rate is perfectly fine, its sluggish in my video because I was doing a full screen video screen capture, so that's a little rough, it normally runs fine...

Second of all, my steam locomotives past 10mph have no sounds, thats not real, trains doing 70 mph still chuff. Every version of trains has sounds all the way until it maxes on speed, why all of a sudden does it just stop at 10mph, THAT is less realistic.

So apparently theres no way to make it so my trains will keep their steam sounds past 10mph, which is ridiculous.

Yes, i've seen many steam locos going down the line, with the exception of the PRR S2, they are nothing close to quiet as a mouse. They chuff at all speeds, even more and louder chugging at FASTER speeds.

Im pretty sure my motor still makes sounds, it doesn't just silence itself. I've never seen a steam locomotive silence other than one coasting downhill. I want to hear sounds past a minuscule 10mph, and Im asking how or where to make an adjustment in a kuid to make that work. To me no sound after 10mph is unrealistic. And im trying to change it.

are you getting any errors in CM for that loco? If not, my guess is try to find another loco. seems like the one you have the creator either forgot or didnt put in an engine sound past idle. also, is the loco dlc, or did it come with TSMac?

Most of mine also change tune at around 10mph, thought is was just one of those failings of steam and trainz, apparently not.
Will watch the thread with interest.
