Hi
I have recently purchased Trainz12 of which I am pleased with. I also purchased and downloaded the Duchess, but having downloaded it and installed it in the Trainz folder I can find no trace of it or run it.
Would appreciate if you could advise on how to get it running
Thanks

Two things:

1.Make sure you have added the serial number for the addon pack into the Trainz Options box (the same box that appeared when you first launched Trainz)
2.Make sure that the favourites feature is turned off - to check this, do the following:
a)Click Main Menu, followed by Options.
b)Click Surveyor Options.
c)Look down the list on the right hand side until you find 'show favourite content only' (or similar) - click it to untick it, then click the tick to confirm.

Thank you for your reply, I have followed your script and where you mention favourites in the surveyor options, this is not listed.
Also how do I relist the trainz options box again.
Thanks

To open the trainz options box:

Click Options on the Launcher.

Also look for a yellow star on the Routes page - if it is yellow, click it to turn it off.

Hi
I've tried all the things you pointed out but still unable to run it. Should it be listed in contents if installed properly.
Thanks

Have you looked in Content Manager?
Setting the Search Panel to Category - Locomotives show make it show up. Did you commit it after installing it?
Does Content Manager show any errors or missing dependencies? When you click your Trainz icon on your desktop which opens the Launcher window, when you click on the Options button to open the Configure Trainz window does it list the Duchess serial number?

Hi
I've checked the contents manager and it shows no errors, and set the category.
Not quite sure about the commit option, I just installed it.
The serial number is shown in the options window, but failed to see it elsewhere.
What else can I try?
Many thanks

In Content Manager select the Open for Edit tab. If anything is listed, right click on and pick select all then press Ctrl M to commit them into the database.

Hi. I've opened the tab open for edit and it displays "no items to display" does this mean it hasn't installed properly.

Search for "LMS Duchess" (red one) or "BR Duchess" (green one).

Best way is to find them with the option "Today", there you'll see all the stuff you have new installed. (or change the date for earlier installs)

Most of the time I rename the "username" in the config file to have a better way to find things back. The listing of assets in Trainz is the most worse one I've ever seen in a game.

If you are still using your trs2006 version just have a look in there, just to make sure you haven't loaded it in to the wrong game by accident.

And you should have both the TS12 serial number key and the Duchess serial number key in you Options CD key Box, is that correct?

Did you submit your Duchess serial number key with planet auran as well?

I have located the duchess in the search option box, how do I proceed now, to get it to run in the routes section.
I have registered with Auran and serial no is shown in options box.
Thanks

I'm still confused, have you a step by step (or know of where I could obtain this help) guide from the download stage to actually running it. Sorry to be a newbie pain.
Thanks

You really need to read section 8 - INTRODUCTION TO SURVEYOR in the manual
But for now, run TS12 and click the start button.
Now click routes and pick a route you want the Duchess to run on, lets say the ECML route.
So click on the ECML kings-cross - Newcastle route then click the create session button.
Now pick a section of track you would like to run the train from, like a siding or something.
Select the Trains tab (F7) from the tab Panel.
Now scroll down and select BR Duchess Green from the list of available items.
Click on the add button (+) in the same tab menu.
point the cursor at the piece of track you want the train on and left click the mouse.
Now do the same thing with the tender and carriages.
Now you need a driver.
At the top left of the screen there are four round buttons, you want the one with a white square which says edit session rules.
Click on the driver edit square then click the edit button for the driver menu.
you should have a driver already selected for you the first time, but if you add more trains you will need to add them your self, and select the vehicle to go with the driver.
You can now tick the boxes, to get back to the main screen.
Now click the main menu box (top left) and select Save As...
Select the Save Session button and give it a name.
At last you can run the session with the quick drive button (top left round button with white triangle, or Ctrl+F2).

J maybury: you need a medal for your good and full explanation. All to often replies to newbies are very incomplete and not helpful. There are many contributors on this forum who just 'spin their wheels' and waste the time of the person seeking help with inane and stupid comments of no real help.

Its the guys like you, Bob Weber,John Whelan and others who give a full and detailed point by point explantations that who make it all worthwhile.

Wow! I have the train up and running.
Thank you for your time in writing this clear and concise script, really helped, even the manual is beginning to make sense now. I'm sure too, this will help anyone that is thinking of purchasing Trainz for the first time.
I also extend my thanks to the other guys for their hints and tips.

Shaneturner12 deserves most of the gratitude as he has done all the leg work, and spent a lot of time to help thousands of newbies online and with his website.
He's truly a real good egg, and he's not alone, there is a real good family here. I, on the other hand, help out when ever I can in between beta testing.

j_maybury;

Thankyou for the kind words - I do like to help out users as much as I can, both through these forums, through my tutorial website, and even through private messaging/email.

Like many of the veterans here, it is like one large family.

Therere is only one thing that does annoy me though (don't worry, it's not you): if I give advice and the user in question (or another user) seems to dismiss it, or even refutes it.

arwin48;

It's good to see that your problem is now solved - if you have any further issues, you are welcome to start a thread about it, and me as well as other users will do our best to help.
