Stations and stopping trains.

This problem I am having possibly applies to other versions than just TRS04 that I am using so here goes!
I have obtained the set of maps centered around York in the UK and find them very interesting having not long been in the area visiting, travelling both by car and train. My problem concerns the stations used and happens when a train enters the station. No matter what speed it is travelling at it will come to a complete stop, even if you want it to be express. I have adjusted both station and passenger status with no effect and cannot think what to try next. No doubt there is a simple explanation but for the time being I cannot see it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Russell.

Hey Russell,

If they are AI trains, and you create commands for them saying "Drive to XYZ Station" then the train will stop no matter what. Other than that, I don't know what the problem might be...

Sorry I can't be of any more help, but in saying that, I hope this helps!
Mitch

P.S. York is beautiful. :)

Thanks to you both for your replies. I have to admit that I neglected to say that this has applied to trains that I drive in cab mode so while your advice is very good it sadly doesn't apply here. Its very disconcerting to drive a train into a station at 90km/h and have it stop in the blink of an eye!
And Mitch, I had a ball at the Railway Museum as well as in the center of town!!

This is a known problem with TRS2004 and CAB mode. I agree there's nothing like racing along at 50 mph only to come to a halt at a station platform.

You could look at the e-specs of the locos, namely braking numbers.

brakeratio nnnnn
max-accel mmmm
max-decel xxxxx

For later versions of Trainz, these numbers have increased by a factor of 4 or so

Don't have 04 so don't know a whole lot about it's differences, but one thing occurred to me that might provide a workaround for a manually driven train.

Make a separate track for stations you want to bypass and line it up with the visible track. When you want to bypass the station you just have to throw the two junctions. (one on either side of the station's track.)

The trick would be getting the track lined up just right, so that if you were to take a look from the exterior view the train would look like it's still on the visible track.

Create a junction either side of the station then lay invisible track between the two & line it up directly over the top of the visible track through the station .Then place a track mark on this track. You can then drive via this track mark at speed straight through the station and you will appear to be on the visible track through the station if the alignment is right.

Russell,

Did you look for a trackmark where the train is stopping? Maybe there's one there that's named as a place to stop in a driver or train schedule. Just a thought.

I have decided to bump this thread as I think that I have found a way around this problem. It is very possibly a result of the merge process when large maps are put together and some of the results are unconnected industries and stations, large vertical cliffs at the edge of baseboards etc.
What I have done in one section of the layout is to remove and reinstall the suspect stations reconnect the trackwork, and replace any missing signals etc. Now I am able to blow through these stations at warp speed if I want without being slammed to a halt. Have been along a other sections of the layout with no problems. I suspect that it might be possible that simply removing and replacing the track would have been enough and recommend this as a first try to those who might have similar problems. Removing and replacing the stations would be a second option.

Cheers
Russell.
