Well, I've had this idea in my head for some time now, and have been thinking about taking on modeling SP's Coast Line route from San Fransisco to LA. Era is going to be during WWII, most likely 1942-43. The reason I picked this is because i plan on doing a HO scale model rr layout, initially of the SF area.
Anyway, the route is 470 miles, and with 113 miles of it next to cliffs. What I was thinking of doing is doing it in stages, say SF-Palo Alto, Palo Alto-San Jose, etc. The main focus of the route is going to passenger traffic, specifically the Daylights, and military movements. Accorinding to the book, Daylight Reflections Vol. 1, there were 290 military bases along the Coast Line not including aircraft factorys or naval shipyards. this was more than any other rr.
What I'm asking for is help on this project such as doing any re-skinning or object creation for that matter, the scenery track laying etc.
What I would really appreciate is someone did a DEM of the route.
Oh and I'm using TRS 2010
Thanks
