I've had half a dozen penetrate Gmail this week. All repute to have been sent from different people I email occasionally and from the address list it looks like their email address list have been spammed.

I'd marked them as spam so any emails from a compromised email address will probably end up in the spam filter.

The mantra is please upgrade to ie8 or Firefox 3.5, please use noscript with Firefox 3.5.

Please ensure Windows update is running to pick up automatic updates.

Please ensure your email password to the servers is a strong one, ie 8 characters long, containing numbers upper case letters and lower case letters. Some one else's postcode or car registration number with a couple of alpha characters added perhaps?

Please use a user level account in XP not an admin account the XP default when browsing the web.

If you haven't got an antivirus software package installed Microsoft has one here,

My understanding is Adobe Flash has a security issue such that Malware can be installed by visiting a web site with an infected flash file. Adobe's view is that it is the responsibility of the web site administrators to ensure that their web sites only host clean Flash files. You may wish to remove Adobe Flash until this is resolved.
