South Shore CANCLED

My faith in technology and the advancment of railroad simulator is slowly dying out as I constantly get bombarded with annoying problems that brinf me back to square 1.

I went to delete a test session that I had created and accidentaly deleted the entire route itself. Unfortunatly in trs06 there isn't a undo feature when deleting routes or sessions. I tried to restore my computer and that failed as well.

Unfortunatly the exact route cannot be redone because it was fictional however after building my NEC2k7 route I will push my self back to bringing the south shore style in a later route.

All reskins until further notice have been cancled, all tracks have been cancled and any equipment that i made has or will be cancled.

Sigh, with great depression,
Mike

ouch.

This scares me, which is why im so pedantic about back-ups. I have discs full of back up layouts that ive long ago released to the DLS, they make good coasters now. :)

Right on Alan. That is a lesson I had to learn the hard way. Now everytime I do anything I back it up on a pocket drive not just for Trainz but everything.

Cheers

I did that too on one of my very first routes just to see what surveyor was like its long gone now. I wish i kept it to look back at some memorys. :(

This is sad news Mike, the progress you had made was great. Again the lesson of backing up is learned the hard way.

I would have between 20-30 CD's and now DVD's with content and layouts backed up of anything I have done or downloaded. I also keep all my CDP's as well, so I am sure somewhere along the line (no pun intended) I must have a least 2 copies of everything.

Mike, I feel your issue with great feeling, but please, please do not leave our community, I beg of you! I will miss you so much! :'(

I wont be leaving, Working on the NEC2k7 Route will calm me down at the moment but I dont think I will be restarting this project sometime soon as many of you know I have alot of other stuff on my hands. :(

I'll back up all of my stuff more often lol.

The next version will be better with more custom stations, track, industrys and organization :D

Man, I totally feel you.

My 300 gig hard drive (with movies, t.v. shows, etc...) seems to have had a problem in that, while I was backing up some downloaded content, it "disconnected" for no reason (which it was doing fairly frequently) and became "corrupted and unreadable" (the equivalent of a blue screen of death I guess). I'll be going to the shop tomorrow in hopes of getting the data back (luckily, my trainz stuff is on another hard drive which is working fine). Not only is the cost going to hurt me but the possibility of losing all those gigs of things..argh!

For me, it's even more frustrating because the backup isn't supposed to die right? (and my LAST backup drive before that croaked 6 months ago (200 gigs) that was unretrievable).

Anyhow, take a breather, realize that you are human and that murphy's law is a curse for all of us :( and have some hope in that now you can make an improved route with more things you'd like. :) Try to see it like a metaphor if you can: a fire burns down a forest which seems terrible but pretty soon, those pine cones start to burst and a new forest begins.

LOL I guess that's the only way to look at things like this I suppose. :/

Hope you are feelin' better...

Good for you. I know from my own experience and others have also said this, that the next version seems better, with more ideas and improved ways of doing something or the texturing is better etc.

Looking forward to Version 2 ..... although it may be hard to improve on Version 1 but it will be better.

Trust me on this. Once you have made it once it's much easier the second time and goes much faster. :)

Cheers
