Route Builder
I have Trainz 2010 Engineers Edition and are having problems with the simulator.
When in driver mode the sound affects on all locos are only hered when the screen is facing the left side of the locos, the only sound that can be heard on the right side is the boges and the boges can only be hea rd when the screen is facing the right side on all the rolling stock and all of the locos.
I have updated the simulator to the latest and I have updated all of my software including the sound card.
My computer runs on
windows 7 (64 bit)
Ram (4 GB)
simulator Build: 44088
Can someone Please Help me with this problem.

Ok
I found out where to go.
the problems is that I have; Left, Right, Rear LH.RH. and sub and center and it still having problems with the sound so is there any thing i can try.

Hi again acdoge

Try this:

Click on Windows start button (the round "Windows flag" button at the bottom left of your screen).

A menu should come up

Select, "Control Panel" (it's 3rd from bottom of my list on Vista)

Select , “Hardware & sound”

Select, “Change system sound”

Select, “Playback”

Click on the “Speakers” icon to highlight it

Click on, “Configure”

Then select your choice of “Stereo”, or “Quadraphonic”, depending on whether you are using 2 or 4 speakers (not counting the woofer if you have one).

Selecting 5.1 Surround or 7.1 Surround caused the problem in my system. It just doesn’t seem to be compatible for some reason. I could never hear the horn in Cab mode when set to Surround.

I use, “Quadraphonic”, on my setup which is Vista (sigh!) and TRS2004. The subwoofer still blows the floor off, and the sounds – horn, rail, traffic ambience etc. all come from, and move realistically from the correct direction through all my four other speakers on quad setting after I did the above.

I can't remember if I had to save & restart Trainz, but it might be an idea to do that to be certain that the changes take effect.

Hope this works for you.

Cheers

Looks like we cross posted.

If the above doesn't work try checking your speaker connections. Are they wired up correctly?

Can you check using the windows utility test which sends a voice description out through each relevant speaker, "Front right", "Front left" etc..?

Edit: It may be a "Chime" test in your version of Windows. The voice stuff is on my Realtek speaker utility - sorry if I've confused!

I don't really know what else to suggest.

The above advice has worked for others, mainly when no horn sound is heard in Cab.

Hopefully someone else will come up with some more suggestions for you.

I'll post again if I have any more ideas.

Sorry we haven't got there yet!

Cheers

go www.realtek.com.tw and get the hd audio codack
once saved to your hdd run it
newest driver may help....
good luck
you should also be able to use the realtek icon in the control panel
set to 2 speakers and get that working correctally
then expand form there

Please note that realtek do not make sound cards they make audio coadaks
maybe the 4 speaker thing needs a prople sound card
Lotz of people had problems with slower PC's in 06 with realtek

Hi again acdoge.

A couple more thoughts.

Have you tested that your PC speakers are set up and working correctly? I doubt that it’s Trainz software that’s causing the problem, mainly because it’s not a fault I’ve ever seen before in the way you seem to have it.

Hopefully you can read the screenshot below. I’ve reduced it to keep within Forum limits. If necessary use Ctrl and roll mouse wheel to make it bigger.

Hopefully you’ve used the top screen shown below, and clicked on what I’ve circled.

You should then get the bottom left screen. Highlight the speaker image, and check that it says “Realtek High Definition Audio Working” and that you have the green tick.

Hit the configure button to get the bottom right screen. Highlight quadraphonic – don’t use either of the Surround options. Then try clicking each speaker in turn. Also try the test button. You should get a chime from each speaker in the position shown in the “Speaker Setup” box. If you don’t, I would suspect that either your speaker cables are faulty or loosely connected. You could check that they are all pushed in fully and in the correct colour coded sockets.

If you do get all the chimes in the right place you need to click "Next". Another box will appear. Leave “Front left and right” and “Surround speakers” boxes ticked. Click “Next”. Then click “Finish”.

Restart Trainz and test it out.

Fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the help, but still no progress
I have done all the things that all of u sugeted but no change to the problem, the problem only happens on trainz. all spekers work on all of my other progams but not trainz. I know that the sound from the Industries comes out of all spekers so it must have to do with the simulator it self.
i know the problem just started when i was in drive mode. i had not changed any seting or up dated it when it happend. i have re installed trainz sevrall times.
Is there any paches or updates for sound?
and thanks for the sugestions.

This is an issue in TS10 that others, including myself, have reported. In my case, engine and horn sounds, in exterior view in Driver, completely disappear much as the original poster suggested, when looked at broadside-on (if I remember rightly). While locos in motion are silent at certain angles, locos that are idling in yards, sidings etc. can be heard for miles around!

Clearly, not everyone with TS10 is suffering from this problem (otherwise we would have heard a lot more about it!) But it does exist and is effecting some of us (and seriously detracting from our enjoyment of the game), so it would be good if we could get to the bottom of it.

Is it a problem affecting particular sound cards? Mine is an ASUS Xonar DS card if that helps.

Is anyone else with TS10 having these sound issues?

Paul

Back to the old 2006 problems again :o, I have a Creative card and 5.1 surround all running fine, it could be the type of sound codecs that Trainz does not like. When I updated all the Creative software, I had nothing but trouble, so have been running the old in the box CD software ever since.
