Some General Session Questions

I'm trying to develop my first session and am having trouble thinking some of this through based on the available commands.

I want to have an AI pickup a consist put together by a non-AI driver. How do I tell the AI to couple to a consist that does not yet exist in the session editor?

If I tell the AI to couple to a consist, can it navigate by itself or do I need to specify track marks to get it to the right place. If I do, what happens if the consist is located beyond the track mark? If I tell the AI to navigate to a track mark, what happens if the consist is located ahead of the track mark with respect to the AI engine?

Playing around with navigation commands I ran into a problem with switches (I think). I navigated to a track mark where the AI needs to reverse and move switches to get to the next track mark. The AI just sits at that point and will not proceed. I don't see any commands that help me here. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

Try the "couple at trackmark" command.

Does the position of the trackmark give enough clearance for the AI to throw the switch? Try moving the trackmark further away from the switch, you can use "Invisible" track to extend the line if needed.

If your line is signalled check that the signalling "supports" the move.

Check for any messages from the driver as these may give you a clue to the problem.

There is also a "Change direction" command.

Two very useful driver commands are:

131986:210015 Couple to vehicle facing trackmark

131986:209014 Couple to vehicle near Signal

Both by Atilabarut. Also worth searching DLS for his username for lots more handy little session goodies :)

OK, apparently there are a host of commands that I don't have. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere and where they can be downloaded? TIA.

There are hundreds - maybe thousands - of Driver Commands. You can filter a manual DLS search to return only Driver Commands. Some are good, some are not-so-good, but try-as-you-go is the only approach I know....

Start CMP or CM2 and set the Search Action Panel to Category - Rule to see all rules (mine shows 253). Then Category - Script to see all scripts (mine shows 264).
