So confused. Please help.. :(

Hi there,
I bought Trainz 2010 and finished downloading it this morning. I bought it from Steam, including the Blue Comet DLC.
Now to the confused bit.
I've been trying to find my Blue Comet in the list when you create a session from the "Routes" option. And I can't find it anywhere. I've tried searching for it using the search option, and I'm utterly lost.
I've registered both the Trainz 2010 and Blue Comet with the website, but have absolutely no idea where I get the Blue Comet from. I've looked in the downloads cart but that's empty, I've verified Steam files and that's all ok.
So please, pretty please, can someone explain to me where I get the Blue Comet from, because this is getting a bit frustrating <--understatement.
Kindest regards
Matt

Have you upgraded to 2010SP3? I believe that is what is required to run the Blue Comet. Also, in Surveyor, look for CNJ in the loco list.

Hi, and thanks for replying.
I haven't manually updated the program, but on the first splash screen it has "Build 43361". I have no idea if that is SP3 or not. I looked at the patches available, and none of the three listed match up with that build number, so I'm even more confused now.
The CNJ does not show up in the Loco's list in surveyor mode from the "Create Session" option, so I'm guessing it's been stolen by aliens, which seems the most plausible reason. Either that, or this is the most complex installation system ever devised by man, deliberately written to vex me to my soul.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards
Matt

SP3 is build 43434, so it would appear you need a patch, but for which one you had better ask someone other than myself.

Hi Matt.

There is one thing you can try. 2010 comes with a favourite filter on by default. Now the Blue Comet might over ride this being as it's by Auren I'm not sure as I don't have the Blue Comet.

Anyway, whilst in surveyor, check the little tabs at the top left(near the main menu). The third one along is the 'content search filter'...it looks like a little wine glass to me, hover your mouse over to identify it if not sure.

Click on this and the filter will drop down. If you haven't turned this off, it will say 'five stars' or something simular. Click the x next to it to close it. Your surveyor will now show alot more content than before and maybe...just maybe, you'll see your Blue Comet.

As I say, I can't confirm this as I haven't got the Blue Comet but.....it may help.

Mart.

Matt,

You say you're checking under sessions, correct?

Well the Blue Comet won't be found there. You need to edit a route, and place the consist to run.

When you save, the session will be created with the consist there for you to drive.

Matt,
You have the latest "Steam" downloadable version. There is currently no updates/service packs for this/your "Steam Version" (43361). If you had purchased TS2010 direct from NV3/Auran, then if the download wasn't already 43434, you would have been able to apply SP3 to take it up to 43434.

You have to now wait for the next "Steam Version" update/service pack. It is very unlikely that NV3/Auran will issue a small "Steam" patch/update from 43361 to 43434... (Note; your 43361 has most of SP3 in it anyway)...

In the past these "Steam" updates/service packs have had a much lower priority for NV3/Auran to patch. Hopefully this has now changed. (it's just one of the disadvantages of buying/downloading Trainz 09 & 010 from "STEAM", rather than from NV3/Auran direct)...

Here's another reputable seller of NV3/Auran versions of TS2010 (& add-ons) http://trainzone.co.nz/

Personally, I always buy the DVD versions, including ones like Murchison 2 (06, 09/010) & S&C...

Happy Trainzing. - Cheers, Mac...

Hi,
thanks for your replies and suggestions folks, I appreciate your time in doing so.
The problem was fixed after I got a reply from a CS ticket.
It turns out that in "Options" from the main menu, then "Surveyor" options there's a show only favourites. I'm not sure if that's the same bit which Mart spoke about. As soon as that was turned off, it showed up in the create sessions.
So thanks again for your input folks.
Regards
Matt

Hi Mart,

Jerry here, I had the same problem as Matt, could not find the Blue Comet in surveyor! I took your advice in turning favorites off in surveyor and you were exactly right, Blue Comet showed up just fine. Thank you a lot.

I purchased the downloadable version of Trainz from Amazon.com a couple days ago, partially because it was a few dollars cheaper than on the Auran site, and partially because I wanted to avoid the international exchange rate fees that my CC would charge. Anyway, I had read Mac's advice above prior to purchasing, but thought I would be ok since Amazon advertises their version of Trainz as coming from NV3. Anyway, I was disappointed to find that I ended up with a Build 43361 version, as well. My question is this: are all of the downloadable versions currently Build 43361 no matter who you purchase from, or does Amazon have misleading information on their site?

I am in the exact same boat and am decidedly unhappy about it. The Amazon listing clearly states the NV3 source and makes no mention of the game not being updateable. I will be contacting Amazon about a refund. That's just poor marketing and support on behalf of both parties. Regardless of how you get the game, everyone should be capable of updating to the same release.

The different build number doesn't mean that you don't have the latest version(or very nearly the latest), eg the other language versions have different build numbers.

I wouldn't worry.

:o ...so, but no.

You nave a non rescript ackowlegemernt, your undedscriop acknolegement intrusion, ids not vey scary...

You don't even deserve a scripted reply...!

So why would you viote for Ohama?

Blue Comet won't download, even with TS2010 on my computer

I got the Blue Comet from Auran, but when I try to download it, it tells me that TS2010 cannot be found on my computer, despite the fact that I've had it on that computer and been playing it for almost a week!! What the hell is going on? I have Ultimate Trainz Collection.

Well if you have TRS2010 then you should register it in your profile then the content will be available for you if I recall correctly as your flatcar shows only UTC registered.

Moin,

Maybe you must point it to the right directory, where your TS 2010 are installed?
Maybe you can post a screenshot from that error window?

I bought mine from Games for Windows Marketplace. Build 43361 TS2010. Is there a way to update this one? Do I need to?
