Smokeing just plain smokeing

Hey guys

I want to make white smoke, anyone know the color code for it?
;)
The lower the colour, the whiter the smoke. Fro pure white smoke set the first three numbers to 0. 255 is black smoke. Anything in between is ranging from white to grey to black.

Smoke is labelled Red, Green, Blue, Opacity. Use different values for different coloured smoke.

And PLEASE watch your spelling! It makes your posts hard to read and understand, and is quite repulsive. Remember: drop the E and add ING. So smokeing is wrong. It's smoking.

And colour is the UK spelling of the US color. So don't bug me about it any more than your current spelling has. And excuse me, I'm just mad about spelling.

Captainkman,
As a Queenslander you might be interested in this. At a state high school recently, I was informed that spelling isn't important. If spelling was rigid, we would all still be speaking like Shakespeare. Thee, thy thou etc. I was told "language is constantly evolving"!
Don't get me wrong, I hate 'lazy' spelling, such as used in texting and in advertising, but there is nothing we can do about it. I've seen several of your forum posts picking up spelling mistakes, and I wonder how old are the posters, and what kind of education have they. Picking on them in a public forum is unkind.
They may not have had the opportunities in life you did. Lets all just stick to Trainz, and mate, have a Happy New Year. Concentrate on what is important, ignore that which is not.

Cheers

Thought someone might say that...

The Qld education department is going downhill. And I'm being taught by it still.

I have aspergers syndrome, so it can be hard for me to grasp concepts like that sometimes.

Dragonharh, I'm sorry if I offended you.

Now, unkind, a word that's never been directed at me before... I am ashamed of myself. The only time I got a time out at school was the teacher's mistake. That was in grade 1. And I've never had another time out, never had a detention, or been suspended or expelled.

So true. I used to get upset about spelling too, but realized that English may not be the poster's native language and that they're doing the best that they can with their understanding of the language. I noticed that the OP here is from Canada, so maybe their native language is French and not English, or maybe another language altogether. What bugs me more than poor spelling is the improper use of grammer, but I've learned to overlook that too for the most part for the same reasons. I've had to come to grips with the fact that this is an international community where we don't all speak the same language. This, afterall, is a trainz forum, not an English class.

Laziness is another issue altogether. I absolutely abhore the text speak that some use here, but maybe I'll get over that someday too.

Now back to the original topic. The smoke color will be determined by the Red, Green and Blue numbers (RGB) that you use. These will be the first three numbers in the color tag of your smoke container. The lower the numbers, the whiter the smoke. Pure white would be 0,0,0,255. The fourth number in the set of numbers is the initial opacity / transparency of the particles of smoke with 255 being completely opaque.

So much for phonetics. That is why I am paying my 8 year old granddaughter's tuition to a private school where she is learning proper English and spelling as well as other necessary basics to survive in life. Just because the world is going to hell (and rather quickly I'm afraid), it does not mean that we all have to go with it. Sorry if my rant offends anyone

It doesn't offend me. If our public school systems were more interested in teaching proper reading, writing and arithmetic skills rather than correcting the social ills of the world, we might have people that could effectively communicate.

My rant is over now.

@Captainkman.
Mate, glad you took my comment in the spirit it was intended - I know exactly where you are coming from. 'Unkind' is not a word I would normally use, but I wanted to tone my remarks down and try not to be nasty. I remember Kamal's famous comment on racial predjudice "Why is the world so unkind"
I'm on the forums daily, and I know how helpful you are to anybody who has a question or problem to fix.
Anyway, a bit OT, so - back to New years recovery. Have a wonderful year everybody.

Respectfully disagree. I know you've been doing this for a longer time than I, but I set my steam colors to was 255,255,255,255 and smoke colors to 30,25,25,180, little more red in my smoke to give it a brownish cast. The higher the number, the brighter it is, not the other way around.

You're exactly right. My mind must have been wired backwards there for a moment. Thanks for catching my error.

The first three numbers are the amount of red, green, and blue.
0=none, 255=max. The visual effect is that a smaller number gives a less saturated, muddy colour. It works in tha same way as the sliders in a graphics editing programme, but if you're not used to how the colours mix, look at the CCG examples below.

The last number is the opacity setting. 0=invisible, 255=solid.

eg 255,0,0,255 will give solid red smoke

The following is from the CCGTC:

color
The color of the smoke effect. e.g. ‘150,150,150,255’ for dark smoke; ‘255,255, 255,150’ for steam;
‘150,150,255,255’ for water.
Default is ‘255,255,255,255’.

If you're still not sure feel free to pm me,
Chris.

Be careful. In 7th grade the primary colors for water colors or paint are yellow, magenta and cyan so if you mix cyan with yellow you get green. In the computer world we mix emitted light (colors) so the primary colors are red, green and blue. If you mix blue and green you get cyan.
