Small 1-2 Board UK steam layouts?

Can anyone recommend a good small 1-2 board UK 1930'ish steam layout with a simple single / double loop track layout... or something close?

Small routes

The trouble I found when creating small routes is operational interest - there isn't much!
I made several Tabletop layouts based on a Hornby type model but they are made up of several boards, 1/2 wasn't very interesting or challenging enough. And the danger is of course they turn into tail-chasers, overall not my kind of thing.
Hope you find something to suit though.
