Signs/Signals

Trainz Bum for now
Hi,
This may have been asked before-I tried to do a search but to no avail.
I am looking for Limited Speed signals. I've noticed that the signals that came with TRS2006 (USA) are all medium speed or slower. Anyone know if any of those signals were made?

I am also looking for a Warning Sign. This sign may be placed at least 2 miles but not more than 2.5 miles of a working limit.
Thanks in advance
Mike S.

Hello Mike S.

Unfortunately, TRS does not directly suppport limited speed signals - at least not for AI control. AI support of the USA1 signal support is limited to the following conditions:
Stop, stop then proceed, Caution and left diverge, caution and right diverge, Caution, Proceed and Left Diverge, Proceed and right diverge, Advanced Caution, Proceed.

Two additional states are available but to my knowledge only work in 2004 scenarios - slow and medium speed

For my CPR Winnipeg Division, I have had to create all my own signals to display the correct signals as they appear on the actual line. However, the signal states that I am able to display are not recognised by the AI.

When running under AI control I have added invisible speed signs just beyound the junctions so that the AI will "see" the reduced speed and adjust accordingly if they see my limited clear signal which they "think" is a clear (proceed and diverge) signal. I am trying to experiment with scripting which will allow me to introduce hidden speed signs to work directly with the signals. I have had limited success with this but just can not master the scripting language..... this project is actually on hold till after my chemo is complete in another 2 months then I'll be back at all my Trainz projects!

Now - what you can do is clone some signals and add the aspects that you want to see - This is done in the config.txt file under the signal section and the light section. See the content creators guide for reference.

As for the advanced speed signal for the work area, I have seen some on the DLS but can not remember the name or kuid(s) - if memory holds, they work similar to a single aspect approach signal with a hidden light (corona) and actually appear as flags at the side of the rail or if representing permanent speed reductions they appear as painted metal signs at the side of the rail. What I did for these was to create yellow triangle signs with the speed posted and placed a hidden speed sign beside the rail to advise the AI of the beginning and end of the zone. for the human controller they see a green metal sign to the left of the rail which tells them where the reduced speed zone begins and then a green sign to the right which show where the reduced zone ends.

As you can see, my routes are designed for me and not really for AI but I have tried to introduce some AI control as well.

Good luck and have fun!
