Signal Chart / Yards

Hi Everyone,

Searching for a signal chart, especially placing signals on yards, if there's such a chart that details this!

Thanks in advance
Ish

In real RR yards, almost all, if not all trackage, is dark ... totally unsignaled

I just place Trackmarkers at the clearance point, at the start of each exit curve switch, in each exit of yard track turnouts, and Drive Via those trackmarkers

When I do place signals in yards I use BNSF50 invisible signals, or Signal Thingies

I live near Conway Yard in Conway PA. It is 180 tracks wide. I can see plenty of dwarfs when driving by there at night. In the sims I like to use dwarfs in the yards so you can see which way the junction is pointing. I also use invisible signals to make "blocks" so the AI will work better. Since the signals in the sim are not proto, I don't use them proto.

I have to say that cascaderailroad is probably 99% correct. The railyards I've seen don't have very may signals.

I place signals at every junction only for the sake of the AI, so for TANE, how I'm using it, requires a signal before and after every junction, or the AI just gets dumb.

So if you're planning for AI, you better use a lot of signals. As far as a chart for signals, ask the engineer at the time that built the yard, and make sure it's within the budget (approved budgets means less signals.. LOL)
