Those ARE Big Leaf Maple's!

Actually, I am astounded in the fall here in Illinois by the size of the Maple leaves that fall from the surrounding trees. I have held in my hand leaves that are eight to ten inches across from side to side.

Apparently they are bigger than that.. (I put tree detail to low and I found this)
