Show Off Your Routes *Potential For Large Screenshots*

More work-in-progress shots of my tram route. I figured to enable shadows so that the scenery can pop out a bit.

Starting off, I am reminded that beach areas (at least the ones I've been to) have an amenity block of sorts where people can utilize an outdoor shower to wash off the sand as well as an indoor one to change out of their swimwear. So, there's now one amenity block next to both of the ramps that access the beach area (also started on adding ground textures and adding the ocean). Also didn't catch the floating trashcan until now. That will be fixed after I make this post:

Here's a wharf on the easternmost section of the route. Might continue adding on to it, but I like how it's turning out so far. Might need to add a crash barrier on the access road so that people don't go careening into the ocean:

This is the kind of housing that only the richest can afford:

Remnants of the old wharf that's just barely hanging on. Who knows how long it'll hold until it all falls into the ocean:

Finally, here's a little funfair featuring a few recent assets from MSGSapper. All that's needed is a ticket booth for people wanting to go on the available rides. Also reskinned another davesnow sign:

And that's about it! More will come later.

Going full prototypical for this one. WIP South Carolina lowcountry. The following screenshots are at CP SY, where the CSX A-line crosses the NS Charleston District.

CSX M409 rolls south with more power than usual.

NS 19D crosses CSX at the usual snail's pace while CSX L627 leaves Bennett Yard for a run into downtown Charleston.

Compare to some real photos I've taken there over the last few weeks:

I'm hoping to get the route running between downtown Charleston and Ridgeville on NS, and between Ravenel and Strawberry on CSX, along with part of the Andrews Sub and Palmetto Railways. Eventual goals are to extend CSX to Savannah and Florence, and NS to Columbia. For now, it's one max-size Basemapz area at a time.

Work continues at Sunrise City Beach! Not much this time, but the area that I've focused on a lot is starting to take shape.

Starting off, two hotel assets came in clutch for this particular area that I had wondered to do with all week. We can say this part of town is a hotel district, where tourists can check in before checking out what Sunrise City Beach has to offer. Both hotel assets are by davesnow with edits by jjeff1955:

I don't know about you, but I tend to have a little fun creating scenes like this. Here, a shipment of boxes are being dropped off at a superstore. Whom I presume to be the manager seems to be asking the truckers something. Perhaps he wants to be sure they are the right boxes that were ordered however long ago:

Finally, here's the funfair again, featuring the final circus assets from MSGSapper. With the additions, I consider the funfair to be complete:

And that's about it for now. More screenshots will come later.

A new scene on the VPRY route. Coldwater Steel Distributors is nestled between the passenger and freight tracks on Daniel Island, just west (railroad-south) of the passenger station. A car of steel coils has been unloaded and the rush of outbound trucks will soon begin.

Carbon & Limestone Railroad. 'The Rocky Road!'
New town well on its way to being finished. Also went back to older parts of the route and did a bit of work in Bear Tussle and Carbon.

Newest town on the Rocky Road is Union, Kentucky. Presently at 37 miles of the route being in a presentable but not fine tuned condition. Union is the biggest town yet on 'The Rocky Road,' we are around 2/3 of the way to finishing that town. Present project is kit bashing a big textile mill.

Back to Bear Tussle, A kit bashed Conrad Lumber Mill that provides fifty jobs for the denizens of that little town was finished off. Our passenger local started in Union, KY and now is about to use the Wry in Bear Tussle to change the heading of the consist. Did learn something important this practice run. Have to keep the flat cars at the end of the spur down to a very low minimum to give the passenger trains enough track to pull in and clear the switch!

Our last report for this post is that the Passenger Station at Carbon, Kentucky was finished along with a busy city street with some good sized hotels on it. This is right across the river from Main Street so it is really a cool location for the passenger depot and some hotels. By the way, the quality and quantity of really nice small town buildings by Derznovich are amazing. This pic alone has 5 of his buildings in it. (He sounds just like Approach Medium on a vid I watched. I was away from the game a couple of years so I might be missing something there.)

a question, perhaps one that may plant the seed that shall one day be a route in and of itself - has anyone ever considered making a route depicting/based off of the Pacific Electric, both freight and interurban (the "Red Car"), circa when L.A. Noire is set?

Sounds somewhat interesting. Have to research it...

The only P.E. route I'm aware of is that made by Tim Muir for MSTS. He built models of almost all (if not all) of the P.E. locos and stock, all of which is fantastic, even by todays standards. He hung out at Elvas Tower, maybe he's still there. If you want to see P.E., that's the place to go. His work is utterly superb.
Best,

Reporting from Sunrise City Beach once again!

Having an overview of the area I worked on so far, there's just something satisfying about seeing it all come together. There's still some things that need to be finished, but I really like how the area is all coming together!

The funfair's parking lot is almost finished. It just needs some light poles (something I usually do once I am near the end of a phase in developing a route). Also spent a while doing the road markings on the road in the foreground:

What is being constructed here? Perhaps we will found out in a few years from now 😬

This is a davesnow crane truck I reskinned a while back. This is a recreation of that particular crane truck from the 2003 movie Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Not a perfect recreation, though, as the crane truck differs from the Demag AC395 used in the film. The colors may be off, the text font (which is mirrored on the opposite side, hence why I didn't bother adding the word "Champion" on the arm) is not correct, and back was given a yellow color in order for the crane operator cab to have the correct colors throughout, but it's the best I could do. I wanted to recreate this truck because, after all these years, the ending of the chase scene where the truck flips over has been burned in my memory:

And that's about it! More will come when time allows.
