Morning EPS (state electric company coal train) to northern Koljevica mines. In reality, until recently (before new 200 km/h fast train), State Electric Company railroads and fleet were best in the country. They do operate fleet of their own locos and railroads. Here in the game, they operate their own fleet but not railroads:

Denver & Rio Grande - the ACTION! road
Soldier Summit Route.

Jumped out westward in an area known as Spanish Fork. On google earth/street view I found this cool closed gas station and adjoining RV/Trailer park. Nice break from laying track and figuring out grades. The DEM is handy but its not totally accurate so lots of 'earth moving' and 'by the seat of the pants' surveying is going on!

My bother and I got a model railroad for Christmas when I was ten years old. 1971 holy cow! Dad assembled it and it came with a bit of terrain in like one foot squares. Anyway the locomotive was a Santa Fe F3 and also a Rio Grande stock car was included among others. To me a Southern fan the ATSF and D&RG were so exotic sounding and mysterious. So I broke out the war bonnet tonight for a hot shot ATSF trailer train for old memory's sake.

By the way this is Soldier Creek, about 20 miles east of the previous screenshot. With so much desert terrain I am moving rapidly towards Provo which will be the terminus of this route. Need to measure maybe 20 miles? But detailing a good sized city like Provo is liable to get 'wild and wooly' pretty dang quick when we get there.
