Settle & Carlisle Cattle Docks Script Error

Scottish

New member
I have S&C incorporated into TS12 but the Cattle Docks have a script error which results in the consist in the session stopping at the dock but when the next command 'load' is called, the bug symbol appears and the consist will not proceed.

Thread Exception: ER_NullReference, line 1392, file vehicle.gs

Stack dump:

<kuid2:35412:28221:7> "S and C Cattle Dock 3 pens"

function $bool@Vehicle::LoadProduct(LoadingReport), line -1
function $void@CattleIndustry::PerformStoppedLoad(Vehicle,string), line 241
function $void@GenericIndustry::PerformStopped(Vehicle,string), line 309

No errors or warnings on the assets in CMP.

This problem affects all 3 sizes of Cattle Docks.

Anybody know of a fix?

Yes John, I ran the patch after I installed S&C and the build shown in the Options General Tab serial numbers for S&C is 41903, which is the build the patch takes you up to.

N3V say on the product details on SimulatorCentral that S&C can be installed into TS12. The S&C website says that the patch for 2010 can be used in 2009 but obviously the patch existed before TS12. I therefore had doubts about running this patch and raised another thread yesterday. John replied that he had used it and it seemed to update S&C content only so I did the same thing, apparentl without problems.

It also says on the S&C site;
"This is a content update so you can install it into whichever build number of TS2010 you have installed. The build numbers in the file name refer to the content build only."

S&C runs OK and so does TS12.

These Cattle Docks are only in S&C (and previosly TC3) and are not built-in in TS12 (or TS2010), therefore I am guessing that this patch would only update these assets and not affect TS12.

As usual N3V do not provide instructions to install S&C into TS12, therefore the user is left to guess what he should do.

Thanks for your input. Since S and C is part of the big sale this weekend, I would imagine that this question is going to come up again and again, so maybe I will create a support ticket and ask for something official.

Have a look on the Settle And Carlisle forum first, I'm pretty sure this was dealt with, http://forums.auran.com/trainz/forumdisplay.php?58-Settle-and-Carlisle-Addon
Remember N3V didn't make this http://www.settleandcarlisle.co.uk/ Worth a visit for updates and extra free goodies.

The one gripe I have about add ons for Trainz, is the documentation, especially with payware , seems to be non-existent for the most part. How hard would it be to list a product, then list which versions of Trainz that product will work with, and if any updates are needed, which versions should be updated.

I already was burned once buying a Route add on ( Romanian Megaroute) and all it said on their website was that it was created in TS2010 and that it was "not tested" in anything else. I purchased it and installed it and it had all kinds of problems. When I emailed the creator, we exchanged some trouble shooting info, and finally he said " are you running this in TS12?" I said yes, he said " It won't work in TS12".... Hello, why wasn't that clearly stated on that website for customers to read, before they pay for something that is useless to them. I just looked at the web site a few minutes ago, and nothing is changed, it still doesn't warn people that if they have TS12 it won't work. I am a long time flight simmer and when people sell add ons for flight sims they list what their add on is compatible with, it isn't that difficult and saves a great deal of grief in the long run.

I just looked at the thread about S&C and could find nothing about patching S & C running in TS12. The only references seem to be old ones where some files from TS10 were imported into TS12, which is not what I have.

Robert,

Unfortunately N3V doesn't create the add-ons. These are done by third-party developers. As you saw with the Romanian route the developer made no effort to tell anyone that the route would not work in TS12.

Did you delete the Romanian route already? I'm sure you could get it to work. Most content is usable in TS12 with a little effort made to repair the broken assets. The only thing you may not be able to repair is anything with scripts if the creators used older or scripts that are not supported.

Just to get back to the subject of the thread, does anybody know how to modify the script error in the Cattle Docks?

Haven't deleted it yet. Waiting till I get some more expertise before I delve into trying to fix that route.

The Cattle Docks work OK with S&C in TS2010 but not in TS12. I assume this must mean that there has been a change in the generic scripts in TS12 called by the Cattle Dock or the cattle wagon script.

Any scripting experts out there willing to have a look at it?

FYI .... I ran the TS 2010 Service Pack update this evening on S&C installed on my TS12, from the S & C website, and it installed with no problem and everything seems to be OK so far.

Have you applied the update? Is the problem still apparent?

Thanks John

Yes, the update patch has been applied and the problem is still there in TS12 but not in TS2010. I even tried removing S&C from TS12 then copying over the patched snc.ja file from 2010 into 12.

As I have mentioned above, it looks like there could be a change in the generic scripts in 12 which is causing the problem. This would probably mean that the local asset script needs to be modified.

Just a thought but try deleting the cached libraries in UserData\cache\libraries. I've cleared the odd problem by doing that in the past, cache is rebuilt depending on what libraries are being used when in Trainz.

Problem solved. Wrong cattle product associated with these docks by installer. For anybody interested, see separate thread in S&C sub-forum.
