Serious Download Problems

I have owned Trainz 2009 a little less than 2 weeks and I am running it on a brand new computer about 2 weeks old . The problem I have been having is with content manager.
When I download or upload content my screen turns to static like a tv but with color rather than black & white. (NOTE I DID NOT HAVE A VIDEO CARD OR DRIVERS FOR IT INSTALLED IN MY COMPUTER AT THE TIME I WAS DOWNLOADING. I WAS ONLY RUNNING ON INTEGRATED GRAFICS.) All i can do is turn off my computer and restart it with the power button. I then opened up content manager and it automaticaly repaired my content. Concered and worried enough I completely wiped clean everything I had downloaded/uploaded. I started over downloading things less often and smaller majorities of content. It seem to work ok but when I uploaded a few locomotives from West Coast Trains my screen turned to the blue screen of death. Franticly all I could do is turn my computer off with the power button again. I restarted it and my computer runs fine. after content manager repaird itslef and I then again wiped my downloads off and Im afraid to download anything again. I am still concered and confused on what happend. I would like to know if anyone has experienced the same problem or has heard about it. I do not know exactly what happend. My computer - Cyperpower PC -AMD Phenom™ X4 9850 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology - 4 gigs of ram- Windows Vista 64-bit ( NOTE I DID NOT HAVE A VIDEO CARD OR DRIVERS FOR IT INSTALLED WHILE I WAS DOWNLOADING.) ( MAYBE THAT IS WHAT IS CAUSING IT?)
Please if you know anything information regarding this problem
please reply immidiately.

"AMD quad core processor" witch one some of the old ones had a bad bug and need a patch. Also get newest Nvidia drivers.

I did not have my Nvidia graffics card in my computer let alone the drivers installed while I was downloading. Do you think that could giving me the problems?

My proccesor :

AMD Phenom™ X4 9850 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology

Shawnwulff, You have us alittle confused. In your 1st post you say that your system includes a Nvidia 8500GT. In your 2nd post you say your graphic card wasn't installed when you where trying to download. Was there any particular reason you removed your graphic's card ??? (or haven't you ever had it installed) ???

I would recommend you re-install your Nvidia video card & do as whitepass suggests, download and install the latest drivers for your Nvidia 8500GT. - (Ver 182.50)

You don't say what OS you are running.
If running XP (32bit) http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_182.50_whql.html
If running Vista (32bit) http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_182.50_whql.html
If running Vista (64bit) http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_182.50_whql.html

Your AMD CPU shouldn't be causing you any of these problems. - (Not unless you where unlucky enough to get one of the first batch of these CPU's).
If you where, you would probably be having problems with other software/games. (After the first batch, AMD sorted out the problem & from then on, those CPU's where/are reasonably good ones).

Abit of background about the "first batch bug";
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that AMD's initial Phenom processor launch didn't go exactly as planned. The first batch of retail-ready Phenom processors were clocked lower than expectations and in the days leading up to the launch, the now infamous TLB bug reared its ugly head. If you're not aware, all initial Phenom and Opteron quad-core processors based on the Barcelona architecture were plagued by an errata that could cause a system crash under certain circumstances. The errata involves the processor's translation lookaside buffer or "TLB" and L3 cache. Keep in mind, every processor has some sort of errata, but it usually isn't cause for concern, nor does it manifest itself in any real-world application performance. In many cases processor errata can be worked-around via BIOS or software patches and end users are none the wiser. With the Phenom's TLB errata though, working around the problem involved a significant performance penalty.

Obviously aware of the problem, AMD's engineers immediately went to work crafting a new revision of the native quad-core Phenom silicon that resolved the TLB errata. And today that new revision is ready. Quad-core Phenom processors based on the new B3 revision silicon should be hitting store shelves in the not too distant future. In addition to resolving the TLB bug, AMD is also unveiling some higher clocked Phenoms and tri-core and low-power models too.

Let us know if re-installing your video card & downloading and installing the latest drivers for your 8500GT makes any difference. Good luck.
Cheers, Mac... :)

Ok im sorry I will clear things up. At the time I was downloading I did not have a grafics card. I was only running on integrated grafics while I was having these problems. Sorry to confuse you. I think there has been enough of it. My operating system is Windows Vista 64 bit. After I Had these problems I then recieved my grafics card and installed the latest drivers. I didn"t dawn on me that it could be the problem until know. Do you suggest I should retry to download? I wouldn"t want to harm my computer. My computer is also only 2 weeks old so I wouldn't think that I recieved one of those first batch bugged CPU's right?

Great, that's one possible cause out of the way. I would recommend you install your video card & download and install the lastest Nvidia Vista 64bit drivers.
Then I would re-try downloading making sure that you are running Vista as the "Administrator"
Cheers, Mac...

Thank you for your help, So you think it probably happend because I did not have a video card in my computer or the drivers installed for it while I was downloading? (I did have integrated grafics while I was downloading)

Trainz is power hungry and uses everything. Downloads off the DLS are just files and should do nothing to your computer. You do need the min specs recomended before running it or installing it. Have you updated your 2009 to latest version?

I have downloaded the service pack. Are there any other updates?

The problem I have been having though is when I download. My screen goes haywire. I did not have a video card in my computer or the drivers for it installed while I was downloading. Could that be the reason why I am having theese problems?

Simple answer; Possibly - probably !!!
Recommendation; Install your 8500GT video card. Download and install Nvidia's latest Vista 64bit drivers.
If running TRS2006, make sure SP1 is installed.
If running TRS2009 WBE, make sure you have the latest patches; http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=38749
