Script editing in config files

Hi guys,

when doing script editing in config files to fix errors and a tag is not allowed in a container, does the whole line have to be deleted irrespective of the script contained therein ?

It depends on the tag in question.

Script (.gs) files are seperate from the config file, and are referenced by the script and class tags in the config.txt file.

There is a good thread in the TS2010 forum that deals with how to fix common errors in config files (by gisa).

Ok thanks Shane - This particular error in question is scripted 'the tag "bogey" is not allowed in container 'traincar' and is the same error in many grouped assets, and there are kuids involved in the scripting which I don't want to delete. But I have to learn more about the files you mention so I must go look in that thread.

cheers
Jan.

config files do not contain script code, but contain a list of variables that describe the configuration of an asset.
in the end, the answer is if you delete a tag that has a container you must delete the container too.

Thank you. That clears up a bit more for me too.
If there is a tab kuid contained in that container can it cause problems when deleted . I am specifically talking about later assets imported into earlier versions of trainz.

Backdating locomotives can be a very tricky process. If you are unsure, post the config.txt file for the appropriate asset.

Hi Shane. Here is one of the many brothers in CMP that I am totally lost with. What I really do not comprehend is that there are no errors or missing dep's , on any of these assets , 'view in railyard ' is active, but in railyard itself, not one appears.
I have tried changing the build no as well but I left it original again because it did nothing.Perhaps these are just not suitable for TR2006 and a little voice tells me "leave it alone now"

At a guess you need to fixed the Aliased kuid first, assuming it is installed, if not that may well be the problem.

Sorry whoever's toes I stepped on guys - I did not think well there.
I think I must give this one a break - will go back to it again. I have myself in a headlock here :)
I think I am still not understanding how to use CMP yet, will go there again first.

Thanks for your time .

Guys, I have had a re-think and I am going to use TR12 rather than trying to backdate assets , everything is available to DL that I would like in NG anyway and like someone mentioned to me in another thread - TR12 is the best.
cheers
