The current theme: Photo recreations (suggested by normhart). The idea is to recreate a real photograph as a Trainz screenshot.

Entrants should post either the real photo or a link to it along with their screenshot. If the photo is not your own and is non-free (i. e. not distributed under a free license, e. g. a Creative Commons license), then posting a link to the page with the photo should be done instead of displaying the photo directly in this thread. If the photo is not your own but is licensed under a free license, then the photo may be directly displayed in your post under the terms of the photo's license.

One screenshot allowed per entrant. Screenshots must adhere to the theme and the Code of Conduct.

To give potential entrants more time to construct their Trainz recreations of a real photograph, the submission period will be 2 weeks long instead of the normal 1 week, and will close on April 15 at 12:00 a. m. UTC (April 14 at 7:00 p. m. here in the eastern U. S.), after which point voting will begin.

The next contest's theme is rubbish.

Please feel free to PM me with suggestions for themes, etc. They are appreciated! :)

Good luck. :)

Regards,

Zachary.

Here’s my entry.

A note of thanks to scratchy for the Railpictures image and help with the zoom function over in the Nature thread.

Getting the angles and detail, and finding the correct assets, was more difficult than I originally thought. The season isn’t right and the buildings, fences, trees etc. are all “best match” from an ever increasing and bewildering array of great assets from the great creators.

Anyway, here goes.

Cheers

O-M-G .
If the submissions are all going to be more or less those submited so far, N3V should consider using some to advertise their product and it is going to be a hell to pick a winner.

Hallo,
it is a great idea to come up with such a theme!!
Mezzoprezzo and rbar_16 you both did a great job to meet the reality with your layout creations.
Unfortunately I don’t have too much time left during this week. But I will see what I could dig out from my Milwaukee Road project
to be able to put a nice contribution to this week competition.

Well - I did not want to post that reply once again, but because of some browser problems my post from above appeared twice.
As I don’t know how to delete it, I just changed it to that one.

I thought you folks would enjoy this theme. :D

So far my efforts have failed miserably and I had a bit of lead time. <sigh> So much to do, so little talent. <sigh>

Still, you can contribute. It helps screenshot of the week stay popular.

It's all about fun and sportsmanship!

Cheers,
Joshua

Stoney Creek bridge one of many "prototypical" spots on this route

difficult to choose from so many spots and areas that look close to real (to me) and are prototypical in DEM and route but think the Stoney Creek bridge is a good pick!
From many i look good picture to show comparison but this should do it and bare with me on the different size of the original pict.

Just one question : Can we do "N scale" => "trainz" than "real life" => "Trainz" ?

If you know what I mean. :) :p

Well I never spend even a thought to any „scale“ in trainz. Starting with Trainz 1.3 back in 2001 I guess I saw something about scaling inside the tool box where new routes have to be created.
But I never understood the need of such a “scale” for anything in virtual reality. I am an engineering mechanical designer.
When I create new parts and modules for machines using a CAD-System like pro engineer or AUTOCAD and so on, I always create the design in the “real” dimensions meaning 1:1 scale.
In the past as I did some design work at a drawing board using paper and pencils, I used to be limited by the size of the drawing board. But there are no such limits inside virtual reality.
So, it is probably the wrong place to ask this question, but just because of the post in the quota: Why do we have such a scale inside trainz and what it is useful for?

:) :o :D

I think what he might be referring to is an "N" scale model train layout as the basis for the Trainz route screenie. Or a "N" scale model train layout done prototypical instead of a Trainz route. Then I might be wrong.
