Saving schedules

If I set up a Route in Surveyor, complete with a Schedule, and then transfer to Driver, the Schedule is nowhere to be seen. How can I display the commands in Driver, and get AI to take over? Or where can I find the answer?

In surveyor under edit session rules make sure you have assigned the schedule to the train you want to use it. To allow the AI to use the schedule you must enable the "Drive Schedule" driver command. You can do this by going into Edit Session Rules clicking on the Driver commands thing and then clicking "Edit". Find "Drive Schedule" and click the tick box. It will now be enabled. You can call up the schedule at any time by, in drive clicking the button at the bottom right of the screen called schedule (I think it's the middle one). This should show it to you. To get the AI to take over Right-Click the green arrow in the commands window and select Drive Schedule.

I've got half way through your instructions but don't seem to have a "Copy Commands From" rule, and I can't ind it in DLS either.
Any suggestions where to look?

kihara.

In surveyor open the main menu up (top left). Edit session, open the driver commands and tick "copy commands from". close driver commands.
At the bottom you will see add, click that. Scroll down and click on schedule library.
You can now open the library and put as many sets of commands you want in.
When in driver to allocate a set, click on copy commands from, it will give you the option of library or driver, choose library and all your sets of commands will be there ready to use.
You may have to add the library first for the copy commands from rule to show.

Thanks for the link, however when I click it my anti-malware app rejects it and closes down IE. Is it safe to override it?

I'm afraid my 'Schedule Library' is certainly not in my 'Edit session' box, but I've now been given a link to download it so I'm trying that.
Thanks again.

Now I've got ScheduleLibrary.cdp on my desktop - thanks - but in which Trainz folder should I put it?

Open content manger first. Then click File > Import CDPs.
cdp1s.jpg

Browse for the location of the rule and select it.
cdp2n.jpg

It should import it into Trainz.

EDIT: In the last image it says that it has skipped them because they are already installed. This should not happen with you.

I am very grateful to you for taking so much trouble to guide me through this problem. Especially as the Helpdesk these days can take weeks to answer! And I think I've picked up lots of incidental bits of information on the way as well.
I've got my schedule into ScheduleLibrary, but when it comes to "call up schedule any time" you lose me: I have no button at the bottom of the screen called schedule. I wonder if we have the same version of Trainz? mine is 2009.

Hi,
Sorry for any confusion.
First there are two different things which you can do.
1) Have driver commands for the AI in a library so that the AIs can copy these commands and complete these in driver. This is useful if you have one route on which you have trains running periodically and you want them all to do the same thing. It is of NO USE if you wish to drive the train yourself.

2) The Schedule rule which supplies the user with a schedule in driver along the lines of:

Station A Arrive: xxxx Depart: xxxx
Station B Arrive: xxxx Depart: xxxx
And so on...
If you wish to drive the train then you are able to call it up in driver. You CAN ALSO get the AI to follow this.

I think its most likely that you want the second one

In which case ...

1) Open your session in Surveyor.
2) Click the Edit Session Rules button.
3) Click Add in the bottom left.
4) Scroll through the list to find the "Schedule Rule"
5) Click the tick icon.
6) The Schedule rule should now appear in the Edit Session Rules window.
7) Select the rule and click "Edit".
8) When the window comes up select "Select Train"
9) Choose from the list which train you want to follow the schedule.
10) Click the tick Icon.
11) Then add either stations/industries by using the "Insert Destination" option or trackmarks by selecting the "Insert Trackmark" option.
12) By clicking on the two clocks you can set arrival and departure times. By clicking on the white cross on the red background you can select commands for the train to carry out at the station and by clicking the Track button you can select which track the train is to stop at if there are multiple tracks.
13) Save your changes by clicking the tick icon on the Edit Rule window and the tick icon on the edit session rules window. Now go into the session in driver.
14) Select the button in the bottom right corner shown in the screenshot (the middle one)

Saving sessions

Thanks for pointing out the missing button. Now I have my schedule in Driver ready to go, the loco just moves a little way round the bend and stops! I think there must be something amiss with my schedule, so I'll give that some more thought. Thanks again for your very encouraging help.

Glad to hear you got it working (sort of!):) .
I did forget to mention one thing in my previous, long post. You can get any AI train to follow your schedule by following these steps. (Uh-oh here I go again:eek: )
1. In Surveyor open Edit Session rules again.
2. Find the Driver command rule and click Edit.
3. Scroll through the list in the new window and find the command called Drive Schedule
4. Click the tick-box next to it and the exit the windows by clicking the tick buttons.
5. In driver you can now give the driver commands to drive the schedule by right clicking in the bar at the bottom and select Drive Schedule. It should set off and drive the schedule.

Regarding your problem of "the loco just moves a little way round the bend and stops!" I have found occasionally in driver trains have problems starting up on a tight curve so it may be worth moving the train slightly down the track so it is not starting on a curve (maybe)- Although someone else can probably help you out better than I can.

At least this post wasn't so long as the last one.

Joe:)

I've nothing against long posts, especially when they're helpful, as yours invariably have been. My problem seems to lead to "one ***** thing after another"!
Actually the loco (it hasn't been promoted to 'train' yet) stops after it's just gone round a bend and has reached a straight bit.
I've tried your other instructions but right-clicking in the bar at the bottom has no effect whatsoever, even if I click on a command icon. I presume I'm supposed to be in the Driver window which displays the route?

In that case then you may want to try temporarily using a different loco to see whether it is a prob with the loco or the schedule. Is the loco under AI control or are you driving it. If the first one then make sure there isn't a signal saying stop or possibly a gap in the track where two spline points haven't joined. If the second then it's probably a problem with the loco (maybe) although i'm not an expert at that sort of thing.

Joe

Further to my last post, if I left-click on one of the little arrows in the bottom bar it does produce a menu of commands, including 'drive schedule' and clicking that adds that command to the end of my schedule. But then So What?
The loco is under AI control, no signals. I'll try changing it and look at yor other suggestions.
Kihara

You can either Right-Click and Abandon Schedule to get rid of the commands already there and then add the Drive Schedule command or alternatively make sure you click at the start of the commands to place it at the front.
Joe

I've changed the loco: it now moves much farther down the track, but then stops again. I try inserting the Drive Schedule command at the start but it just jumps to the back! In fact the schedule seems to have a mind of its own, with commands taking apparently arbitrary places in the queue. I have noticed however that things frequently stop when the schedule reaches a Trigger command. As usual, any ideas would be welcome.
Kihara.:)

If it is waiting at a Wait for Trigger Command then it will wait until another train has passed a certain point in it's journey before it continues with its own commands. If this is a session you've made then it should just be a matter of patience. If you are editing someone elses session and have deleted other trains then this may be the problem that they are not there and so are not triggering your train to continue. You would, if this is the case have to remove the Wait for Trigger command(s) from the train's orders.
