Saving Route and Session

Suddenly, when I make a change in my route (planting a tree, or something equally routine), when I come to exit Surveyor it only gives me the option to save new route and session, whereas before it used to let me overwrite. I don't know why this is, as I haven't changed anything in my setup. I first came across this yesterday evening, and wondered if anyone else was having the same problem.

Hoping for a solution.

Regards,

Ken

Hi Ken, yes I came across the same issue when editing a session also. Hopefully this will be sorted soon. All the best, Andrew.

Andrew, I went back in about an hour or so later and it seems to have resolved itself. I still have no clue why, or if it will happen again - ah, the joy of Trainz!

Did you name a track object, signal, junction or trigger with the same name twice? You should get a warning before surveyor allows two objects with the same name, this could be a station name with the same name as a trigger or junction. When you go to save your route a new session will be added to the route because of the double names.

No, I just placed some trees, and as I know they're all called Treebeard I never bother naming them with the '?'. There are ongoing problems with the Auran servers at the moment, but that couldn't be connected, could it? Could it????

In some cases, it can.

TADDaemon checks the Download Station as well as the local content when it checks the KUID number of the asset (so it knows whether it's been duplicated).

Shane, perhaps you can help me because it's back. I built a station and placed 4 station nameboards, all the same name obviously, and it would only save new route and session. I kept the same name for the route, didn't offer to save the session, and lost the session association for the route as it saved the route with a different kuid. I had to open the session for edit and change the map-kuid tag to the new one to get it back. I now have the old one (with the same name) showing the DS status on the CMP. Does this mean I can't do any work on my route until the servers are back up without going through all this rigmarole each time. Because, mate, this just isn't good enough.

Ken

That sounds like something odd has happened, but it's difficult to tell while the servers are playing up.

Shane

"Odd" I could probably deal with, this is weird! My route with the original, old kuid is showing as on the DLS and I know I didn't upload it! Best bet is probably to leave well enough alone until the servers are fixed.

Thanks for the reply, and good luck with your job search.

Ken

Thankyou Ken - If I get any luck with getting a full time job, I will be updating my 'occupation' in my profile, although it will mean a reduction on how much assistance I can give here on the forums.
