So a fellow buys some buildings in El Cajon a few years back, right? Not just any buildings. Under the vinyl siding and sheet rock, the main structure consists of the last three Class 1 streetcars known to exist.

Designed in 1910 and built by the St. Louis Car company, these were the first double truck streetcars on the San Diego Electric Railway. They were built to carry passengers to the Panama Exposition in what is now Balboa Park.
After they were retired, many were used to make affordable houses. One house, built of the three streetcars, survived.
Under the covering, the gold leaf and cherry trim was beautifully preserved.
