Rules for Trainz Video of the Half-Month

Hardcore Steam Breather
I'm thinking I will do a a contest similar to the Screenshot of the Week thread. But instead I want to do trainz videos. Before I do that, though, I want to lay out what rules I've thought of as well as have this open for people to suggest rules.

1. Must be about Trainz (Pretty much a given:))
2. Cannot have any profanity.
3. Must be between longer than 30 seconds and shorter than ten minutes long.
4. People will have two weeks each session to submit their video.
5. The theme for the next two sessions will be posted on each session for people to prepare their videos if they have something in mind.
6. The winner will be decided in a separate thread by popular vote.
7. Videos submitted after 23:59 hours (11:59 PM) standard time of the last day will not be counted.
8. The winner of the last session cannot partake in the next session.
9. Do your best and have fun with it!

If anybody wants to suggest a new rule or suggest a change to any of these rules, please post them here.

Guys,
Please do not take Jointed Rail's prize system for granted.
I personally believe that Justin, Mike and all the folks over there are very generous to offer those superb creations as a prize.
I know you meant well, but please, don't expect these things all the time, that is all.:)
Cheers,
Woody

Woody,

I realize you are taking medication , but again I fail to see/understand your post ?

I understand his post quite well, and he has a good point. He just doesn't want people to start expecting payware everytime that they enter a contest.

Well, I don't know of anything for a reward besides bragging rights. I don't make payware so i can't offer that. What's the usual reward for winning screenshot of the week?

I like the idea, except for the winner not being able to enter next week.:)

Isn't that how it is with the screenshot of the week?

So when does the contest start and what is the first theme? Let's get it rolling here.

I'm thinking of starting it next Sunday. Sorry for the long wait. As for the first theme, I was thinking Forests to conclude on Saturday, July 4th. The next theme will be passenger trains, and the week after that electric trains (wire or third rail, either way).

Now, I've been thinking (clear the room everyone): should it be a one week ordeal since people will have a heads up for the next two and therefore have time to create something? Or should it stay two weeks with voting taking place during the next two weeks during the next session, since videos can take a lot longer to make?

Nope. If you win, you can enter the next week. As for the time limit, I think a week would be fine. Most people can edit a movie in a few hours. Maybe not even that. But for themes, those starters sound good. Just make sure you always open up the ideas and let everyone pitch in. I know with SotW, Michael lets people decide.

Other than that, all sounds good!

What about rewards? I have no idea for rewards.

If anyone has ideas for themes, please pitch in. Where do people pitch ideas for SotW?

Changing rule 8: Winners can participate in the next session.

And for time's sake, I'll change rule 4 as well: each session is a week long. Since people can prepare ahead of time for the next two I see no reason as to why to keep it a two week deal.

One more thing: what kind of rules should there be concerning music in videos? I'm sure some people might want to make music videos.

Well since everyone made a fuss over payware rewards, thats probably not the best idea. Music should be optional. Just nothing that has foul language. Ideas are PMed to Michael, so in this case, the ideas would be sent to you.

Steve

Okay. Thanks Steveo.

Rules are as follows now.

1. Must be from Trainz Simulator..
2. Cannot have any profanity.
3. Must be between longer than 30 seconds and shorter than ten minutes long.
4. People will have one week each session to submit their ONE video.
5. The theme for the next two sessions will be posted on each session for people to prepare their videos if they have something in mind.
6. The winner will be decided in a separate thread by popular vote.
7. Videos submitted after 23:59 hours (11:59 PM) standard time of the last day will not be counted.
8. Any music added in videos must be clean (no swearing or profane imagery)
9. Any ideas for themes may be PMed to me.
10. Do your best and have fun with it!

You can use any video program you wish and any website to host it that will host it. No reason I should regulate that.
