Route / scenario / session instructions

I searched for similar threads before posting, but did not find any.

Using Northbay County route(s) as an example.

When starting the game, initial instructions pop up. During game play, more instructions will pop up. There does not appear to be a way to retrieve these instructions once they go away.

Zec from Auran indicated in an email that there is a method of doing this in the game, but it must be added by content creator(s).

It would be AWESOMELY WONDERFUL if content creators would enable the ability to bring instructions back up.

I have done screen captures and viewed them on 2nd monitor, but some of the instructions are too long, and multiple screen shots must be taken. This is a hassle.

Trainz gives a warning about multiple monitors, but TS2009 works fine. Only problem is when going over to 2nd monitor, Trainz minimizes on 1st. While running Northbay County, the lightning flashed over to 2nd monitor! Was cool! Not the actual bolts, just a white flash, like seeing the flash of lightning out of the corner of my eye.

Unfortunately, I do not have trainz installed on this machine, and I seldom spend time running scenarios or sessions, but I am certain that there is a way of getting the last instructions given! If memory serves there is a button, I believe, on the bottom right corner of the driver screen that looks similar to a sheet of paper! I believe that clicking on this will give the previous instructions. I won't be home for several days but hopefully someone else will see this post and test it on various versions of trainz and respond back to you in this regard.

Hope it helps a bit.

You are correct about the button, Bricey, but the content creator has to enable the instructions to be viewed with it.

There is an alternative to doing screen captures to try to get all instructions. If you open CMP (I assume you'll running TRS2006) and in the Search panel select Category = HTML Asset and also Builtin = True you will find these three kuids:
Coal Mine Run HTML,<kuid:44700:800020>
Gossen Coal Run HTML,<kuid:44700:800000>
Gossen Ore Run,<kuid:86661:800001>
Open each for Edit in Explorer. Each has the instructions in a graphic file contained in the images folder. You can print these out at your leasure.

That is probably the best way to keep the instructions handy for reference. The Northbay team built these sessions before we fully understood how the session HTML interface would work. They are designed using many of the old "scenario" type formatting where triggers cause more messages to be displayed in a sequence guiding the user through the scenario. If you go slow and follow each instruction message as it pops up, you should not have to refer to any of the older ones. Glad to see people still playing around with this route.

Thanks all for the tips! I will attempt to copy images to another folder so I can just view them when I'm running the session, saving on paper. I am running TS2009.

Northbay County has awesome scenery! I am going to start playing more with railyards, but like running Northbay & just "driving" around. :D It would be cool to see an updated Northbay with new scenarios / sessions or whatever they are called now.

I could not attach a photo, so here is a link to one of the instructions I am referring too. Too much for me to remember, so I like to be able to see them again.

Slugsmasher - I am DL'ing routes of yours right now The Clear Lakes & Sandy River.

Switchman's Nightmare runs in TS2009, but no controls for switches.
