Ok, strangeish question here(hoping it's in the right forum...)
But do any 1950s-1960s good-quality boxcars exist?

Whitepass's I-GN Stockcar is very impressive, but I've been unable to find 40ft boxcars of the same quality.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Forty Footers

Hi,

There are a number of them, several built into TRS06. A diligent search on the DLS will yield some from major railroads, including a B&O wagon top.

You are right, however. There is a dearth of 40 foot 50's style equipment, and not just box cars. Keep in mind that 40 foot equipment was being withdrawn in the 1960s so most of the people on this forum were not born when this stuff was being scrapped. We can't blame the majority for being interested in Hi-Cubes, Double-Stacks, roller bearing trucks, and other such new-fangled equipment that they see on a daily basis. Actually, we can blame them. :hehe:

I really don't like the detail level on those built into TRS06; which is why I'm asking.

Photo textures, which I appreciate when I'm trying to model something, are something of a pet peeve with me; no modeled grab irons or any of the details, they just look cheesy.

The trucks are something too; though I can change them, I'd still rather have a whole car that's detailed. I can live with high poly over high performance, any day :)
