Returning to Trainz

After being away for a while, I'm back to the fold.
Bought and installed The Anniversary Edition with TS12, also the Blue Comet and T1 packages.
So far, so good...but looks like I'll have a lot of work ahead of me.
Had the foresight to back up all content from prior versions I had, now have to muster the courage to start getting my old favorites into TS12 and get them functional. Learning curve looks a little steeper than in the past!

Good to see so many familiar names are still around.

Yep I been poking around forms still:hehe: . Welcome back I hope trainz run smoothly and nothing goes wrong. But if you need help ask us.
 
Hi John, Welcome Back! When you're a trainzer, it's always for life.

Not sure of the difficulty of getting older content, like that of TRS2004, into TS12 thou. Read TS10 was a little more forgiving in this regard. Don't have either of these new sims, so can't really say which is "better" for importing older stuff. Theoretically at least, I would think they would both be able to import just about anything. But, I know older content does have a MUCH different looking "config.txt" file structure than even say TRS2009.

I am new to Trainz, I have bought the TS10, EE version, due to lack of funds. Can someone give me some clues about what I need now,or what downloads can be done without a ticket? Like I said earlier I am on disability and funds are very limited.....If this is located in the wrong location, let me first appogy and please move it to the correct location, first time on the forum.
 
A couple things: On the main routes page is a yellow star. Click that to turn it off and you will find about 20 or so more routes available. There is also a "show favorites" option in the Option menu that affects Surveyor; turn it off and you will see much more content available.

As for downloads, well, I suppose any download can be done if you are patient enough, and perhaps run your computer overnight. Probably the electricity that would take alone covers the FCT cost, but I realize you have a limited budget. Try using the built-in routes for now. You might have to create sessions for some, like Modula City. Frankly, you could (and many people do) spend hundreds of hours with just the built-in content.

there are hundreds of freeware sites from where you can download fastly without ticket

Is Vulcan (Ian) still around?

I have found and downloaded PEV's tools and tutorials. From what I have read in the forums so far, they should be of much help.

My favorite route was the Clinchfield, and I had a ton of CSX rolling stock and locos....hope I can get them working.

I'm also working on a 5' X 11' N-scale layout based on the Salt Lake Route series of articles in Model Railroader a year or so back. Trackwork and wiring are nearly finished, and some rough landforms are in place. DCC control makes things so much easier. I think I will try to create the layout in TS12 as well!

I have just started again on models after 6 months off, seem to have been doing aircraft for some time now, as already noted here. :)

Well, with TS12, over the last few days, I have been able to import and repair roughly a dozen older locos....mostly Sporbust items I had archived from 2004-2006, although I have a number of older steam locos working well.

I fear that scripting errors are beyond me...but I have found PEV's tools to be most beneficial for most of my needs.

I am well satisfied with my small N-scale layout...but, as before, Trainz allows me to have an empire!

Never did get the hang of creating, other than small boxy buildings to fill space.

My "bucket list" includes a trip to your area. My doc says best I hurry...so maybe the summer coming.

Hi! I am just in the process of coming back too :) My anniversary edition has been shipped, just waiting for it :) 1 day to go probably.:mop:

The learning curve from TRS 2006 to TS12 has been a bit of a challenge to me.
Maybe from TS10 to TS12 will not treat you so mean!
