There can be only One!
At the moment the forum allows to report a single post in any topic to be reported to the moderator team.

Unfortunately there isn't a button to report a complete topic to the moderators and because of that they have failed to notice ( they are only human ) a number of very off-topic topics in a number of different forums, while others are removed without any explanation.

Are some off-topic topics more equal then other off-topic topics I wonder?

Even though it may report a post, when you use it you can enter a message so type one about the entire topic and see what happens.

Thank your for sharing your thoughts StorkNest ( how do people come up with these nicknames? ). Unfortunately there is a rather strong warning when you enter the "report a post page".

This one:

Note
: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

When you read the CoC you know that not abiding to the rules might get you in serious problems and that is the last thing I want. That is why I suggest to add a "report topic" button.

Well from what I have seen, the moderators do move quite a few "off topic" threads, but they probably have day jobs to attend & cannot be on here 24/7 like some of us seem to be. ;)

To report an off-topic thread I generally report either the last post or the first post on the tread and mention that the whole thread is off topic. I also use th e"report post" button to repost any post that violates part of the CoC.

I fully agree with you Blackwatch.

However, the point I was trying to make is that quite a number of topics get either completely removed/deleted or locked while other topics aren't.

Example:

Off Topic started by myself on May 3rd about "Topic killer championships" ... can you find it?

Off Topic started on March 1st "Ignore this Thread... just testing forum software. It runs for more then 2 months and has gathered almost 500 posts.

Do you think the moderators have not noticed this topic? It should have been closed or removed somewhere in the first week after it was posted because it is Off Topic and has nothing to do with Trainz.

I would like to report that to the moderators but I am genuinely afraid that using the report button for "posts" will make me breach the CoC.

What can I do?

Off topic interesting and off topic not interesting.
Two types you see and when you post, probably most forum members know which category their's belongs to and also the moderators have an understanding.

Probably takes years of posting to achieve these finer arts but when you have achieved this level of skill you automatically know.

:)

You have no clue what I am talking about do you?

I certainly do. You seem to have taken a fondness to complaining about and to everyone that you feel annoys you, which is a waste of everyone's time and serves to no other purpose than make you look like a crank. Do you act the same way on your own forum?

I would have thought it had been noticed as it was started by an Auran employee as a running joke from the 'old' forum which is why so many have gleefully joined in. :)

Or a thread reaches the end of its useful life.:hehe: I started an ill-fated thread called "2004 Trainz Club" that got alot of response from the community. All was not positive but interesting discussion never-the-less. The thread moved from community to TRS2004 support and then vanished without a trace. I guess it reached the end of its useful life. Time to move on.

Ok to clear it up.
To report a topic: Report the first post and state the reason for reporting. The CoC gives 19 specific points to reporting a post.

Zwabberaar: "Ignore this Thread... just testing forum software" thread is an old favorite from long before the forum crash. Long before you joined up.
And at least in my opinion is fine, but there's too many children running around the forum to realize the point behind it or it's predecessor.

bernhart_lossiemouth: that's the kind of post that gets reported.
CasyJ: yours is also the kind of post that gets reported and dealt with. Completely uncalled for.
May the mods have mercy on your soul *arg*

Why don't you pop over and find out?

Ahum ... dear freind. I was on the forum before the crash. Do not let a join date fool you.

It is hilarious to see the value people add to join dates, forum posts counts ...

Yet nobody grasps the idea behind the topic.

Shall I explain in little kiddies language then?

Is it really? And you have acquired that level of skill? If so, why are you posting here?
