Regarding my photos, and my retirement.

Guys, I just want to post a note here that I am very disappointed with some members of the community here. I stated at the end of the cute trains thread that I have several hundred anime character personifications of Japanese trains, and I wasn't kidding. However after looking at the thread itself, I found that many members, even some well established ones, had taken to posting picture after picture of these "facepalm" pictures. At the end of things I requested it be locked because while I had been polite enough to not post the pictures themselves due to size (some were quite large) these other members had taken to spamming that thread with large picture after picture, seeming to find some amusement in it. One member even going so far as to suggest others find photos more and more of the "facepalm" pictures. Fearing a general flood of the pictures, I decided enough was enough.

Sadly now this brings to the subject of my retirement from Trainz. I do not know how long it will be for, but I do know that such actions from people that I thought were mature enough to find the humor in what I was posting without being disruptive, has prompted me to reassess where my stance is with Trainz. The behavior I have witnessed of late, from that whole spamming of my own thread; to rude treatment of other users, to over all disruptive posts and comments aimed at users asking questions, has prompted me to decide now is time to step back. I will finish my final route, and upload it as I have said, but after that it will be all for me. I'm going to take a long deserved and much desired vacation from Trainz, and when...or if I return, well I can't say when that would be. I'm going back to my roots for a while, returning to the game that I came to love and looking at starting over.

For those who know of my route building company "Mad Monk Creations", I promise that I'll finish the two projects before me, but that too will be taking a break. There is a pending rebuild of that website, and I'll update on it as soon as I can about the whole reasons for the change, but as of now, the purchase form is offline until further notice. My partner, Rasputin will be taking over much of my work, but he's currently out of the country now and will not be returning until around Feb of next year. If you must contact him, you can do so through me here. I will be checking in some, at least until he gets back, and I will forward any question over to him.

all signing off for a while. Maybe when things take a turn for the better, I'll come back.

Its a train forum, the amine stuff is a bit far out there, you got a fair bit of positive response, you cant expect everyone to love it, dont get so bent out of shape about it. It probably would have elicited a wtf response out of me but thats about it.

nikos, the problem wasn't that some people didn't like it. I expected that. The problem was that a number of users took it upon themselves to fill the thread with spam that had NOTHING what so ever to do with trains. The problem is also that this isn't a one time thing, but seems to happen all the time. From a user who wants to share their own drawings of trains being given a hard time and their thread trolled into dust, to constant problems Rasputin and myself have had with users who think the Payware routes we build should only ever be freeware.

So you tell me "don't get bent out of shape", and I have to ask you how you would feel if every other post in a thread you created had massive pictures that had nothing to do with it, and then, as if to add further insult, a user goes so far as to say "Hey, let's make this a facepalm thread." Now if that isn't grounds to get irritated at the immature attitude that seems to be so pervasive here, I don't know what is.

In the end, I'm just tired of Ras and I getting a hard time about the routes we build, and tired of dealing with the little Enfant Provocateurs that seems to have started to work their way in here.

For those curious, this is what an Enfant Provocateur is: http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/enfantprovocateur.htm

Everyone gets upset at something that happens here and leaves, even me.;)
Take the time off and whenever you feel ready to come back, do. You may find you change some habits such as where and what you post.
Facepalm posters is a fad thing, before that was Fail.
Now if you want real annoyance, depending on where you live try your local news site. Been on mine for a year or two, comments on stories there make Facepalm posters look weak, probably send them running for caves.

Rise above it mate. If you go away and come back, you can more or less rest assured you'll find the same fools on the same 'stools'. I've been insulted in the past but I don't care. Nobody would bother if I left the forum and it would only be me I was harming if I decided to leave. These guys aren't going to change if you take a sabbatical so do yourself a favour and stick with it and stay sure in the knowledge that you belong to the majority.
